Let me know what you think about the video!! 👍😁 Working on the sound so hopefully it’s getting better. 😊 If you have some tips and tricks about removing the manifold please share. 👍😁

Great video man, watching it a great way to prepare for the upcoming, going through the exact same thing renovating a 2002 Defender TD5, got 4 manifold studs to drill out of the head block, 2 both fore and aft 🙁, fuel pressure regulator next, for the second time ,

Thanks man. 4 studs, even more bad luck thank me. I wish you the best of luck with that job. 👍 I tried to make the video as detailed as possible so people can get a real look into what's needed. Hope it gave a good insight. There is a whole series on this job if you haven't seen the others. Best of luck, Simon

Thanks for the video. I was prepared for sheared studs, but in the end had to give up as the three holding the turbo were just impossible. The manifold ones seemed fine. The frustration is that I need to drill out the two bolts that held the EGR onto the manifold. A simple job that turned brown pretty quickly.

Yeah, I had the same issue with the EGR-pipe bolts. I also broke of a helicoil so it made the situation even worse. But with it drilled out and a costmised bolt/nut setup it worked great. I have seen some videos of people welding the bolts to a nut to get them out and it seems to be the most effective method. I hope you get it sorted, it took me much longer to do than I first expected. 😅

@@LandRoverDrive Well, I got there in the end, with a lot of heat from a large blowtorch on the turbo bolts. BUT, when reattaching the manifold, the rearmost stud sheared underflush. Not blowing yet, so leving it for now!

@@TheSynthnut Hehe, bad luck I guess. Will cross my fingers for you then. I pushed the TD5 really hard on the trip it failed so I guess if you drive carefully it will hold. 🤞

Hehe, yeah, this was not the first time I have had it of. I actually don't remember it being to hard the first time. Use some heat if you can. :)
