About 10 years ago we had a mice problem in our house. I got rid of them with a trick I found online, and I swear it works top notch: Mice CAN'T STAND peppermint oil. I bought a little bottle of Peppermint Especial oil, put few drops in cotton balls and put some of these cotton balls a little bit everywhere in the house. It completely blurs their smell and they become all confused. They can't find their urine trails anymore, which they rely on to Find their ways in the house. I saw a mouse in the laundry room turning around. She was confused and panicked. After very few days the mice problem was fixed. They all left. Trapa don't work. Here's why: In a mice colony, only a small percentage of mice are brave enough to leave their nests and hunt for food. With traps, we only catch their "recon units".

Put a tablespoon of peppermint oil in a gallon of water. Put the mixture in a sprayer and spray the area where you want to run them off. Mice do not like peppermint. I keep my engine bay and undercarriage sprayed and no longer have a problem with them chewing up the wiring. I had two vehicles ruined that way. But I have seen no signs of them now that I keep it sprayed about once a month.

The mice will get through the hard cover via the grease trap easily. It’s literally the perfect size for them. They sell silicone cover that are made to size and lap over the outside edges of the griddle surface. I found this to be the best option, aside from cats.

I almost pulled the trigger on that a few days ago. I decided a while ago that I wasn't going to be the guy who tested every griddle on the market. They were very careful in using the word "resistant" rather than rust free.

No apology necdessary...just a comment to help improve your info transfer via video. I have had issues in two different gas grills. The reason they go in through the bottom 'air holes' or through the hood side holes where rotisserie shaft exit the sides, is for shelter for their young. The grill is enclosed and provides shelter from driving rain and snow and also prevents predation by owls, weasels, foxes, and so on. These pests are well above ground level and fully enclosed in hard metal. While it's not warm, mice have moved a huge amount of fluff and leaves, rags, shredded paper/cloth into the grill to make their cozy warm nests. Cats can't get to them and less frequent use of the grill in fall and winter (at least by me) creates an open invitation for an infestation. My grill(s) always started out very very clean and I use the ceramic 'rocks', but in the spring, the entire inside of the grill needs to be pressure washed, heat-sanitized for at least an hour. I've tried blocking the holes in the bottom and the side openings, but these critters always manage to squeeze through the smallest of openings.

I have a screened in porch but the damn mice kept finding a way in. I live in the sticks on 12 acres. One thing you don't want to leave out is a roll of paper towels! I own that Blackstone with the air fryer drawers below the griddle. In one night they had destroyed the paper towels, built a nest in one of the drawers, and had a litter of pinkies!! Yeah, I declared war. So I found the best way to avert trouble is using those sticky traps at every door. I keep the grease trap clean. I don't leave anything outside anymore. I inspect daily and haven't seen any sign of mice around the griddle for a while but I still find one in the sticky traps occasionally.

I have a 4 burner Blackstone so bringing it in isn't an option, I tried to keep it as clean as possible but I live out in the country and the little field rats would still get in and leave their nasty business all over my griddle top. My wife bought some little fine mesh bags (not sure what you call them) with drawstring tops and we filled them with a bunch of spices mice can't stand like star anise (the licorice spice), cinnamon sticks, chili pepper flakes, and maybe a few other things. I put one in the grease trap opening and one on each side and left it covered for the winter, opened it this weekend and voila, no nasty mouse droppings. If anyone is interested I can take a picture and find out what the little bags are called and if I forgot one of the spices.

Howdy Johnny, haven't had an issue with mice. Perhaps they are staying out of the griddle cuz I have firewood stacks that give them an alternate location. There are a couple neighborhood tomcats that swing by at night as well. Watched my German Shepherd/Black Lab mix do her best Fox imitation and catch a mouse out from under the snow this past Winter as well. Should they start to become an issue I have a CO2 powered auto-trap that I can set up near the griddle. Have A Day! ;~)

I luckily have not had spiders so I've never tried to get into the burners. But if you do have to drill out rivets that's a terrible design. My regular grill I can pull the burners out individually and put a pipe cleaner through them to remove webs. Let me look into this more.
