we use k150 and k100 grade disks on a drill for the cook stops when other trades create deep scratches then scotch brite, followed by a rubber block with a slight grain. It isn't perfect as in the same as the original but is as good as we can get. For the sinks we do what you do except with scotchbrite and sandpaper. we are new at this and had to get some professional help to cut the time we were taking to do the job.

Sadly, I have to do this on to many sinks. Brand new sinks because trades don't care. I'm glad I could help everyone... I'm sure there are better methods, but we are usually on a time/budget crunch.

Wiping stainless with orange oil is great too, usually hides most scratches. Damn painters!

Great video my man! Can you please tell me what are all the materials that I need to start in this line of work? I am a handy man in Toronto Canada and come across this issue quite often! Thanks for your feedback 🙏

Easy enough. I used different courses of sand paper. If the scratches are deep, use 80 grit and move up from there. I use a product called Zud which is a scouring powder and a penetrating oil (wd40 here in the states). The most important thing to remember is to sand with the "grain" of the sink. Hope this helps..

If your asking what trade you would be called it's "prep and detail" if you're a handy man you would slide into this job very easily. You have to be able to do a little bit of everything, but more so you need to know little tricks. After a home owner walks thru their new home they place blue tape on items they need fixed, weather it's matching texture or paint to cleaning something, that's your job. I did this many years and it was a good paycheck, especially if you get in with a good house builder.

What grit did you use on your sandpaper?

Lisa Woody I used 80 and sometimes 150. It depends on how deep the scratches are.

To avoid scratching a new sink i use a sink mat

These usually get scratched from different trades washing their tools. Ie: drywall guy cleaning knives. Painter cleaning paint pan. Etc.. They could easily put some cardboard in first to prevent scratching. (New construction) It seems many tradesmen do not care about their work anymore..

It happens a lot, unfortunately. You can hold them accountable and make them replace it. We never did, mainly because its like getting blood from a stone. In all reality, most sinks get scratched after they get used the first time. Stainless is a tough metal, but it does scratch easy.

Sir, is this completely legal as for the advice you are offering the public on how to remove scratches?
@TheAstriapo

I guess it is. I've been doing it for years. No different then stainless steel on a elevator. Scotchbrite pads of different courses, then spray with WD40 and let it absorb into the metal. I'm confused as to why this wouldn't be legal though..

Stop talking while you're sanding. We can't understand what you're saying.
