As someone that has used and abused a Stainless Series 3 since release, and now is going to order the new Series 7 in Titanium once it’s available to order, finding this video among all of the unboxings and other clickbait is pure gold. I never comment on or upvote videos, but this one was so super helpful in my decision that I just had to reach out and say thank you. The potential for scratches was really my only concern, and being heavy into fitness, I really wanted the lighter weight of the titanium without having to go down to the aluminum and sacrifice the tougher sapphire screen. So thank you so much for putting my mind at ease!

I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who has liked this video! It turns out trying to grow a channel is tough, but this has been a fun way for us to do something during the global pandemic. Regarding the Titanium Apple Watch, it has been a great watch and I personally prefer it to the stainless steel models I’ve owned in the past. The titanium does get scratches over time but they’re easily removable using techniques like the one I describe in this video. One year now with my Titanium Apple Watch and I can say that it has constantly cleaned up better than my previous stainless steel models. I think because the titanium is harder than stainless steel, scratches just don’t get that deep. Whereas with my stainless Apple Watches in the past even polishing didn’t remove the deeper scratches. If you’re on the fence about a purchase between titanium or stainless, I say go for the titanium! Thanks again for watching, and please don’t forget to subscribe :) But most of all stay safe and stay healthy.

Thank you for the advice in this video! Since it has been almost 6 months since this video has been published, have you noticed any changes to the watches visuals in either the brushed look and feel or any discoloration? I know that Apple says they put the coating on the watch to prevent a patina from developing on the titanium of the watch and I was just curious if you had experienced any patina? Also, can you visually tell the difference between areas that are polished with the sponge and not? I am really considering getting the titanium watch, but I would only want to get it if I knew there was a way to safely eliminate any scratches that I end up getting, thank you!

No, there's no patina that has developed and I wear my Ti each and every day and subject it to showers, pools, hot tubs, etc. In other words it's not babied. I regularly remove scratches from the watch using the method I describe in the video. I hope this information is helpful.

I personally haven't tried this so I can't say for sure. Looking at my black iPhone 15 Pro, you can definitely see that there's a grain there in the titanium. You'd want to brush along that grain. You wouldn't want to do this with any coloured titanium.

@joshandsabrinatakeonthewor475

I recently had the opportunity to clean up a friend’s Ultra Watch 1 that he asked me to help sell. Around the top of the bezel it was pretty badly scratched up. I did use this method to remove the scratches at the top of the bezel around the watch face. I was careful to make sure I always rubbed in the same direction so the tiny scratches from brushing all went the same way. I specifically bushed from the bottom of the bezel around the screen to the top, and back from the top to the bottom. I finished off by rubbing the front of the watch against a wool sock for a while as it seemed to blend everything in better. If you have unsightly scratches around the watch face bezel, this will hopefully improve them for you. I wouldn’t use this method for the case of the Apple Watch Ultra as the titanium on the case isn’t brushed at all and would be difficult to blend.

@@youtuberxxl4686 Unfortunately, I don’t recommend anything I haven’t tried myself. Assuming you have a natural titanium iPhone Pro 15, the same process should work. If you have a coloured titanium model phone, you would not want to attempt it as you’d be scratching the colouring off with this method. If you’re going to attempt it, remember to rub with the grain of the titanium. If you don’t you’ll be putting brush marks into the titanium in a different direction, which will be very noticeable to the eye. In order to blend the affected area, you may need to brush the entire side the scratch is on. Good luck to you.

@youtuberxxl4686 That's exactly what this method does and why it only works with natural brushed titanium. This is why I indicated that you need to rub with the grain of the titanium. If you choose to try it on your phone, best of luck. I can't recommend it as I've not tried it on mine - I keep it in a case.

I won't use cape cod cloths of the stainless black watch, and certainly don't use sponge trick on black titanium. I've stayed away from the black just because of that DLC coating. Buffing or rubbing the DLC coating I would assume would result in wearing away the black surface color.

Will this work on Apple watch ultra 2 titanium bezel?
@joshandsabrinatakeonthewor475
21 күн бұрын
The Apple Watch Ultra is not brushed titanium. Using this to try to repair scratches on the case will result in more smaller “brushed” scratches. I just noticed that you specifically mention the bezel. I have done this around the screen, top bezel. Keep in mind it’s not brushed titanium. So doing this will make the top bezel look brushed.

@@joshandsabrinatakeonthewor475 oh I see. I just hit my apple watch ultra 2 on a rock while hiking. I noticed the corners of the bezel are scratched. I wish there was a way to repair it. Apple is asking for 500$ to change the frame
@joshandsabrinatakeonthewor475
21 күн бұрын
@@banrg1 sorry to hear that. The original Apple Watch Edition model in titanium was a brushed titanium. That’s why this process worked to get rid of scratches on that model. All you had to do was look for the grain in the titanium and then wipe the sponge along that grain. It would remove enough off the surface to remove a scratch and basically reapply the brushed grain. The Ultra series when you look at it isn’t brushed, it has no grain to brush along. So rubbing it with a sponge’s scrubbing pad will only add little scratches to the case. Having said that, I have removed scratches from a friend’s Ultra in order for him to sell it. His bezel around the top of the screen was scratched up and I used this method to remove those scratches. Since the bezel isn’t two wide you really couldn’t tell I had added ‘brush’ marks to it. In the end it looked a million times better after I cleaned it up - he had no problem selling after.

Hi Ricardo. This process wouldn’t work for the MacBook Pro as the MacBook doesn’t feature a brushed surface like the Titanium Apple Watch does. Taking an abrasive pad to the surface of the MacBook Pro will only result in small surface scratches being added to the MacBook Pro. Hope this helps.

Titanium and ceramic are two different materials in Apple’s higher end watches. There’s not a model that contains both titanium and ceramic cases. Is your watch case made of titanium or do you have the ceramic model? If titanium and the process didn’t work, how deep was the initial scratch? Are you sure you got a sponge with the green abrasive? Perhaps the abrasive isn’t the same material I’ve found that works well.

Some titanium has a colour process done to it. I wouldn't use this process on it unless it was natural in colour and brushed titanium.
