Thank you! This was very helpful. You explained the process perfectly. WARNING: To anyone else watching this video, please learn from my mistake. Do not touch the blue IR-cut filter with your fingers as oil will transfer to it. Never clean it with a sensor swab as it is quite soft and any residual dust may scratch the filter. It is not easy to find a replacement, unless you want to convert your camera to an infrared camera. I don't know if the gel-type sensor sticker will be OK to use, but I will give it a try soon. Unfortunately, the front of the blue IR-cut filter is where most of the dust will land. Next time I do it, I will be sure to use gloves or finger cots, and plastic or wood tweezers.

I recently cleaned the dust on the sensor again. As shown in the video, in the old days, there was dust only on top of the sensor. But now there was more dust in the lens area in front of the filter. I haven't tried removing the dust in front of the filter. It felt like a difficult task. Now I don't even want to remove the dust on the sensor anymore. I think my GR has already fulfilled its role sufficiently for a long time. Just don't stop the aperture... Recently, I have been thinking about using lumix 14mm to replace GR. To be free from dust. lonelyblog.tistory.com/37

I congratulate you. You have made it easier but although I have some manual skill with repairs, I would not buy that or other cameras that do not show their sensor. It is unacceptable for a camera of that price and level to have dust problems on the sensor and have to disassemble it to have to solve it. It is preferable to go for other options, they may not be so pocket-friendly but they show the sensor and allow you to change lenses.

Still, I love this camera. For several years, this camera has captured my life, and I am satisfied. The reason for this was because it was made like a pack of cigarettes without protruding by using a retractable lens. I hope the new GR will have a dust-free structure. But what is clear is that it should be the current form, not the interchangeable lens.

do you think it's safe for me to use compressed air instead of what you used in the video? I'm going to try this later today

Ricoh factory service charged me a little more than $200 U.S. to do this. I paid to ship it to them. Took about 3 weeks to get it back.

Oh, what a cost! In Korea, it is about 40-50 dollars. It takes a week to ship and receive. Immediately after service, dust came in again. I didn't want to go through the process again, so I decided to do it myself. It's dusty now, but it doesn't matter. It just doesn't close the aperture.

@@LonelyForester It's true, usually garbage is seen at values of f8 or higher but the truth is that it is not acceptable that such an expensive camera has such dust problems.

Great video but managed to disconnect the cable connecting the back panel from the main board and it seems there is no way to connect it back. As well, the black & red cables from the screen detached from the board. Any ideas how to at least connect the cable from the back panel again will be very much appreciated. Thanks.

The cable connecting the back panel can be easily inserted by hand or with small tweezers. Very easy. The black and red thin cables are not separated. A line is placed along the backpanel. I slightly pulled the wire out of the fixed position with a small flat-blade screwdriver. This alone will create enough length to work. If you disconnect the wires, you must desolder - work - solder again. This is difficult.

Hi, may I know if you glue back the rubber grip at the screw?
@LonelyForester
10 ай бұрын
During the above process, do not remove the rubber grip attached to the back plate. The front grip needs to be slightly removed. If you remove the upper part of the side a little, you can see two screws. Before I did this, the front rubber grip had become loose and lost its adhesive strength, so I replaced it with real leather. So I had no hesitation in taking it off.

lonelyblog.tistory.com/30 Just buy a piece of leather samples (piece, $2-$3) that you like, cut it out, and attach it.
