How to rent and lease housing during the war - presentation of the updated Legal Guide on renting housing by the independent analytical center Cedos
Participants:
- Ivan Verbytskyi, Director of Cedos (in person);
Topics of focus:
- How is rental housing regulated in Ukraine?
- What are the rights and obligations of tenants and landlords?
- What problems exist in the housing rental sector?
- What can be done to solve rental housing problems?
- Key challenges in the rental housing market and how to make the rental process in Ukraine more transparent and fair?
Why is this interesting?
The rental housing market in Ukraine has changed since the start of the full-scale invasion. Millions of Ukrainians were forced to leave their homes and find new housing, including rentals. Therefore, the updated Legal Guide now includes a section on renting under martial law. It also includes a list of tenants' and landlords' rights and responsibilities, and answers to 52 pertinent questions about renting provided by legal experts: what should the lease agreement look like; can tenants be evicted from their homes; can the owner visit without notice; what to ask potential landlords or tenants; how martial law affects rental housing issues; and more.
In addition, in the context of European integration, the rental process in Ukraine should become transparent and fair. The challenges and opportunities in this process will be discussed during the presentation.
