I'd have straightened the lever first and sanded it second. OEM levers are better than aftermarket, good fix.

we I am impressed, not by the re-polishing, butusing a vice as an improvised equivalent of a hydraulic press is just genius controlled pressure rather than impact is the correct way to bend meta land the threaded screw action of a vice offers near perfect control, judt love the ingenuity, I reckom A+

I must admit that I was waiting for the 'Snap'! 😂 Well done, those aluminium parts don't normally like being bent back again. 👍

I have in bent two successfully now without any snappages! I do it with the lever left in place. I simply place two pieces of softwood batten either side of the lever. Then use a g Clamp to squeeze the wood together trapping and straightening the lever. Then as you do use wet n dry paper or similar to sand out the scratches.

Good video. Most people heat it up with a propane torch (I don't mean a flashlight for the UK ppl). For those without a flame, the vid shows that minor bends can work if you are very careful!

Or perhaps a heat gun or a hair dry blower on high might help. However, I will be attempting this procedure for my Sym HD 200 scooter of which both left and right hand brake levers are perfectly matched in a bend due to tip-overs while stopped and daydreaming. One tip over was a result of concentrating too much on that girl walking in the crosswalk...no kidding!

I bought a new clutch lever for my CBF600 when I dropped it, got it from Wemoto, in Brighton, was only £11 odd, delivered next working day before lunch. Broke it Sunday, ordered it Sunday evening, delivered Tuesday around 10, back on the bike by half past! Always get my parts from them, so cheap, easy, and fast!

Yes I've also had good experience with them mainly with my old grom. Unfortunately they sell nothing for the nc750x.

Good cheap fix to brake lever, only two points, how strong is break lever, you mentioned has a weak spot, its not going to snap after regular use, just imagining squeezing lever and snapping when braking ! second point, blimmey £50 for a new honda lever, replaced lever on my ktm after bike dropped off stand, £20 to replace and no charge for fitting. Cheers for sharing, looks like you and the bike are on the mend.

Sorry I missed this post. Yes as I expect you know, levers do have weak points designed to break. I was careful with this when I had it in the vice and got away with it. Again many people hit it with a hammer and that's bound to break the weak point then.

Yes indeed, a very good point you make on the 'weak spot.' That could be disastrous for sure.

You done a good job there mate. I would spend the £50 saved on some barkbusters now ? Keep the wind off backs of hands and save your lever if the worst ever happens again. Thanks for sharing

Yea that's a idea Dave, I have factory heated grips which work a treat and bark busters do a great job so will consider that thanks.

Great tip on bending the level back there ER, I'd have just put the pivot end in a vice and used a tube over the lever so your way is far more controlled. IF you'd have had a manual gearbox rather than the DCT you could have used the clutch lever as a template. Alternatively if you're still unsure if you've got it back to how it was a trip to your dealer with a piece of card and a pencil and you could easily make a template in seconds. BTW your workshop needs tidying LOL.

Ha tell me about it mate. You wouldn't believe how much stuff goes in that workshop and out. I make alot of stuff in there but Mrs rider won't let me extend unless she can have an extension "brick type" 😉 so I have to live with it. Tube idea works quite well too👍
