most important thing is to remove the joint around the stone, then lay your stone on a wet slurry mortar mix..then repoint the joint that you removed.. job done

I like that the stone is so neatly out of it's spot--as if Dr. PimplePopper pulled out that flagstone! My flagstones are a mess with loose and broken mortar--about 10 in total--but none has popped out like that one did. I wonder if they had to break some of it away and did so before the video?

Two things... I've done this and found that when cleaning the old surface I use some bleach and water to kill any mold or microorganisms that may have developed. It gives a cleaner surface for the adhesive. Also when caulking the edge, I apply it ti the walk edges instead of the flagstone edges... it does not seem as messy. See what Roger did after trying to place the flagstone in place. He touched the edge which got caulk on his hands, then he got it all over the face of the flagstone.

Great idea in regards to cleaning prepping.FYI Unfortunately bleach can’t/won’t kill mold.

Yes it wasn't a "good" job but you people need to realize it's not just that. It also depends on the owners budget.

Buying those 2 tubes of adhesive and repair goop is more expensive than a small bag of mortar... this repair is more expensive

Just had a new flagstone walkway installed over a mortar bed. In less than 2 months, it is riddled with hairline cracks and cracks that go completely across the walkway. Almost all of the cracks are at the mortar/stone interface. The joints were also filled in with mortar, not grout. Should grout have been used?

I'm repairing my patio and it appears previous owner used some of these methods. It won't last and it is a real pain to chip out adhesives they used. This old house should be ashamed propagating this junk repair.

I agree . and that house is a bit too nice to be cheap but I bet its more the fault of the repair guy talking him into it. I think its a decent repair but not a Biltmore House Estate repair and everyone on here seems to think that it needs that level of cost and turn it into a full blown surgery instead of a quick band-aid that might last 10 years
