Thank you Jose, you are a genius, a great tutorial, and a good fix for the problem.

Hello, It's very unlikely that all mosfets get shorted at the same time. They are all mesured shorted because they are all connected to the same power source. To do a correct measurement, you should isolate the 5 circuits. This can easely be done by removing jp101 / jp102 / jp103 / jp104 / jp107 and jp111 (primary board). After removing these, you can do a correct measurement, and you will probably find only 2 shorted mosfets. Replace those, replace the fuse, reinstall the jumpers and you're done! You can find the original components on ebay - RSS065N06 SOP-8 Mosfet N-Ch 60V 6.5A Greets, Patrick

I don't remember exactly how the loads were wired, you are right on the diagnostic procedure, but they were all failed (well, at least like 7 of them), I've measure them off the board, still shorted. Maybe some weird power supply or driver glitch? I would also use newer, higher rated parts, I used those because the person in question asked if it was possible to get the TV in the same day, that bodge was the only way. Newer parts would take at least 48 hours to arrive.

My TV just broke down, been googling and it turns out I have a problem with the.. thing you just repaired, I believe it's called inverter circuit board. My TV goes on, sound is there, channels change, even the picture is there when I shine light on the screen but there is no background light. What you just did is something I could do, problem is I don't have that kind of tools at home. I have it at work and at my working collega's house but that would mean once I open it I want to finish it, and I don't know how long it would take me since I don't so this kind of stuff often. I'm planning to buy a new TV tomorrow, and to repair my broken one and sell it repaired. Nice video, greetings from Europe.

The older Tvs, like the one on the video, had fluorescent tubes that needed inverter circuits, if it's a more modern LED backlit LCD TV, it probably has a reasonably simple DC-DC converter that drives the LEDs in series (around 100 volts or so for each LED strip). If you are unlucky you have a problem on the LED strip itself, that's a pain to repair because you have to take the LCD panel itself apart.

José Faria Yea I bought my Grundig (40 VLE 5007 BG) two years ago. My older TV before that died two hours before Holland was to play against someone at 2014 Brazil world cup football.. So I had to buy an TV in the next two hours to watch the game. In all the stress I rushed to Euronixx, saw an reasenable TV for €333,- so it was a deal. Did not do any research on the quality or what so ever. So yea.. two days ago this thing went black in then middle of a movie I was watching. Went to Euronixx but my guarantee was due one month ago. Did a little bit of googling, seems that a lot of people have the very same problem as I have, and all have the problem after about 25 to 30 months.. so just a month to 5 months after the guarantee is due. I really hope it's a common problem, and that it is easely fixed, would be a waste to throw it away. If not fixable by me , I'll sel it to someone for spare parts. Greetigs

Well, you are not as much a horrible person as I thought. Nice video. PS: It is not really necessary to keep ALL the repetitive tasks in the video. You are wasting your viewers time. And a close up here and there would be nice for people watching not in full screen or on a mobile phone. Unlike EEVblog you found the fault and even fixed it. Well done. Happy New 2016.

+The Kaiser HA! I remember you! :D Thanks for the input, honestly I do these videos mostly to practice my spoken English, which as you can see is not that good, but this repair was very easy, repairs on panel drivers and panels are a lot harder (of course, if Dave did repair it I wouldn't mind watching). You appear to like troubleshooting stuff, you should buy broken stuff on eBay, you can find very interesting stuff at crazy low prices.

José Faria You remembered well. But I am more interested in fault finding techniques and fault analysis than the repair. Repair for me is just proof of concept.

Hi Jose i just want to rplace my inverter board on my Sony LCD KDL32v 4000 but don't want to damage the connectors it is different to yor model. Can you help? Thank you

I don't do this for a living, if I recall correctly that was the only SONY TV I've ever repaired. If you are not experienced, changing the entire board is actually a good idea. They should have different connectors so you can't accidentally plug the cables in the wrong socket, but you can also just take a photo of it before to check later, other than that, just go for it. If you are not confident because of the connectors, try to find videos with similar connectors, even if they are from a different appliance.

Hi, thank a lot for your video, I have the same model of boards, in my is burned the first fuse, in your video already replaced, but in my board no one mosfet is in short circuit, I've replaced the fuse but it immediately burn if I give power... What can be the cause? I measured the resistance between positive and negative and everything is ok. Please can you help me? Thanks.

If you are absolutely sure none of your mosfets is damaged, I would check the switching controller next, but I would advise you to double check the mosfets.

@@enricobarletta5682 If all the MOSFET are good, maybe it's a problem with the controller IC? You can always consider buying a used controller board, these CCFL TVs are really old, used boards might be cheap on eBay.
