Interesting. I just bought an Advantage with squeaky buttons and I opened it up before I found this video. I seem to be missing that "cross" piece that you have here, which might explain why the buttons feel loose. I feel the previous owner tried to repair it and forgot to put that plastic bit back in. Really appreciate the video!

I've noticed that most of the NES advantage teardown/repair videos I've seen on here don't seem to have that piece, so I'm wondering if later models just didn't include it. It was very confusing when I was trying to reassemble mine, and couldn't figure out where it went, since none of the videos had it

Perfect! Thanks Man. I had a fresh roll of Double sided Super Glue tape I had bought from Dollar General. It was just enough to raise the buttons. I crushed one of the Turbo dials because mine were so tight on there. I'm going to order a parts kit off ebay. Great video! Appreciate it...

I've had controller that kept getting stuck. I had previous tried cleaning everything but one button always kept getting stuck. The double side tape trick fixed my issue. Thanks!

Thanks for this video. I just made the repair. I haven't tested it on the machine yet, but I can tell that the buttons don't stick anymore. A small comment - I just used side cutters to cut the tape and not a razor blade. It worked easier for me :) Again - thanks!

I've been lucky to open up controllers and them only need a good cleaning.Controllers I couldn't fix were PS2 controllers! They seem just to quit working maybe its the electronics but Im no good with stuff like that? Maybe you could do a video on PS2 controllers not working? Good video though it should help others in a bind with sticky buttons.🙂

That's a damn good idea. One of my buttons works fine, the other button works but you gotta press really hard. I have some Flex Tape. I can't even wait to try this fix. Thank you. I didn't know the screws were hidden under the rubber feet. Or the nuts under the turbo dials. Is there any way to tighten up the joystick? I have 2 NES Advantages. One has a sloppy joystick. It works,it's just kinda got a loose feeling to it.

I had the same problem. Though what I did was open it and put a tiny bit of silicone lube around the edge of the buttons. That seems to work great. My main problem is with the A button on one that I'd have to press really hard to get it to respond but after cleaning and the same treatment as the other the button now doesn't work at all. Any ideas?

I wonder what the Famicom Version of the NES Advantage is called?

I don't think Famicom had a joystick like the nes advantage. However it did have some joysticks that kind of resembled atari or flight joysticks.
