Doing the same thing on my 70 chevelle. Seems like a common thing with these A body cars. Specially up north. And thank you for mentioning the part number of the washer. The ones you get from ground up are small and only cover a little bit of area. Wish there was measurement layout for the locations of the mounting holes on the frame from GM. Two of my bushings fell right thru the frame lol

What's up? Not only the G-Bodies only, most cars from GM that have AC from those eras will have rust because of it. I figured it out once I noticed how most AC units are on the passenger side. I think the solution to this problem is to reroute the drain hose of the AC unit away from the frame. Once that's done, use the steps mentioned in your video along with some tamco paint to seal it from rusting any further.

@@Mr_getinthere thanks I’m new to fabrication and all that. I was considering getting a new frame over this worried that welding would weaken the frame but if people are doing this on high performance builds it should be perfectly fine on my stock restoration

@@bretthair4249 doing a frame off restoration on a el camino...i have 6 mounts to replace. And the usual frame mods...a new frame is sometimes a better option but the el camino is unique so either ur repairing the one u have because find a better replacement is almost impossible....they all rot the exact same

G body cars are not worth restoring they are junk they were made cheaply you can see how the complete floor pans would rot away along with the frames, I want to tell you all you are wasting your money I’ve restored several 1960 s cars that were in better shape than a G body
