I'm fairly new in the field of HVAC but, the guys I've helped rebuild pumps were adamant about me not touching the ceramic seal. They stated the grease on my fingers would be enough to mess it up. Is that true? This video seems to prove otherwise but, I wanted to see if you heard anything about that at anypoint. Thanks for the step b step video!

I don't know about this pump but on the Allis Chalmers 2000 series you don't want to touch the face of the seal sealing surfaces because like your friend said it could damage the seal and the pump would leak

how do I know which seal kit to order for the 1510 Im working on? seems to be like 20 or more options. Is it just the shaft size and material thats different between them all?
@statesupply
8 ай бұрын
It depends on the shaft size and application. There are four shaft sizes: 5/8", 1-1/4", 1-5/8", 2-3/8" and a variety of applications: standard, glycol, high temperature, high PH, etc. If you have a picture of the pump tag, we can figure out the correct part number for you! Feel free to email a picture of the pump tag to info@statesupply.com and we will get back to you same-day.

I'm working on a tigerflow which I can't find no videos on. But generally same thing, generally. But my boss wants to use Dremel to cut a line down the brass sleeve and pry it off......... I told him about using a torch and I'm not to sure he is fond of the idea. Do all the brass sleeve require the adhesive. If so I definitely believe I should use torch. But also there is a fire alarm close to my work bench, and I don't want it to go of just for doing my job.

Thanks for the compliment! Are you asking about the coverplate? If the coverplate is rusted where the boot and the white ceramic go, put a wire wheel on your drill and brush it off. If the coverplate is pitted or has grooves, you will need a new coverplate. If you have additional questions, give me a ring at 877-775-7782.

To remove a sleeve guys just tap it with a ball hammer on all sides, now if it doesn't come off. Then I would suggest using a torch thanks for your input
@statesupply
2 жыл бұрын
We do not recommend tapping the sleeve without using the torch as any impact can damage the stainless steel shaft. The torch is used to soften the Loctite to allow the shaft to slide off easily and prevent damage to the motor shaft. Thanks for watching!

It is superb demonstration, mainly concerning all safety aspects of the machinery. AWESUM !!!! My request to you is that how can I replace the originally installed gland packing assembly by a mechanical seal, off course it is a high capacity sea water centrifugal pump. I'm looking for the solution for last 3 months . If you can help me in this matter, I'll be ever grateful to you. Thanks, Regards, Sambit

Great video My only input is @ 14:32 when removing the Shaft Sleeve Make sure to not to hit the actual shaft because you will put a nick Damaging the shaft and will cause a leak. this would defeat the purpose of the shaft sleeve. What I normally do is I score a line on the shaft Sleeve and tap it tap that area with a chisel.

@statesupply

+Rob Hernandez The loctite is used to adhere the sleeve to the shaft. The emery cloth is used to to remove any residual loctite from the previous sleeve and smooth the shaft out.

How do you suggest cleaning the place the the rubber boot and ceramic insert go? The one in the video is much cleaner than the ones you normally come across. Most of the time they are pretty rusty. Thanks
