Thank you for your video. It was very helpful. I wasn't sure if it was possible to separate a flange from a pipe to which it had been glued but seeing you knock it out gave me the courage to go for it. I started out using my reciprocating saw but it seemed like overkill so I switched over to my Dremel and it cut like butter! Thanks for your tips.

I did one like you saw and beat out pieces. Second one I used heatgun and pealed it out, so much easier and cleaner, inside pipe looked like new no scarring.

Thanks for making this video. I really appreciated not skipping over the hard parts like chipping the old flange out of there. Well done!

I will say. My project DID NOT go as smooth as yours. I had a serious tough time separating the flange from the pipe.

i saw that spanner flange at the end, that would have worked too. Nice job on cutting out the old broken flange, I usually don't get that lucky.

Great vid Tim, you STOMP that nasty flange! I'm dreading this one: I've got an outside flange, i.e. a 4" flange around a 3" pipe, and the thing has to go - never did that one before. Also gotta fill in the unreal concrete void around the pipe left by the original builder about 30 years ago. (Looks like they roughed it at 10", said 'whoops' then busted it out to about 11 1/4" and um forgot to back-fill the giant void they left.) Anyway, ya got a vid or other input on outside flange removal? any tips or tricks... or should I just sell the house. Thanks Tim, and keep 'em coming. Enjoyed it.

The flange should sit on top of the finished floor.

Closet flange are supposed to be installed on top of finished surface. You should of installed a spacer underneath the 4 & 3 flange and tapcoms.
