Thanks for putting up this guide, my fan oven of only 18 mths old stopped working last week and I thought “bloody hell I’m gonna have to buy another new oven now “ until watching this! I never knew it was so easy to replace an oven element 😳 I always thought that was it if the oven packed up? But no, what a saviour you are! I bought a brand new element for only £10.50 and fitted it in minutes, now it’s all back to new and there I was worrying that I had to spend another £250 + on a new oven. Thanks again 🙏

Hi just replaced the main fan oven element in my indesit old and new element have 3 positions for cables live,neutral & earth but when i took old element out it had no earth atatched,took back of oven and there are no loose cables floating about oven works ok.Just wondered if this is normal as all vids show 3 cables.
@eSpares
9 жыл бұрын
Hi ady69ish, many ovens no longer use a separate earth connector on the element as this will be earthed through the mounting screws. It is another example how manufacturers have looked at their products and reviewed ways to reduce production costs and simplify construction. The oven will still be perfectly safe as the cavity or chassis will be earthed.

Hi, if I was stupid and didn't pay attention when removing the old element, is there a quick way to know which position the wires go in? I've tried a few combinations and they all ended up with the same result - power outage. (I swear, I'd lose my head if it wasn't attached.) Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
@eSpares
8 жыл бұрын
+Choccster If you use a meter on resistance with the power disconnected turn the oven control on. You can then measure a short from the live to one element terminal and another short from the neutral to the other element terminal. if you have another wire it should connect to the earth terminal on the centre of the element and measure short to the metal cabinet.

Hi Ryrobs, check the thermostat as this should cycle the heat so when it reaches the correct temperature the light should go out and if it doesn't it could overheat so it is likely it is the thermostat.

An oven that doesn't heat up is usually due to defective element. Prior to ordering the part we would recommend you to use a multimeter to detect continuity of power. Please see the video below for further information: kzitem.info/news/bejne/wKKN0WZoZqOnon4

I ave purchased a new element for our Omega oven, but it has a third pin, whereas the oven only has 2 wires...what's with the third one and can it just be folded back?
@eSpares
9 жыл бұрын
Hi Rick, Some elements also have an earth tag that may not be used on all models. The element will be 'earthed' through the fixing screws or bolts to the cavity so it is not required on your oven.
@rickgreen1180
9 жыл бұрын
Thanks heaps!! one more question if I may...our oven only has two smaller holes for each element wire and no space for the third earth pin...if I fold it back it will touch the metal casing and therefore the rest of the oven...is this dangerous?

Rick Green No that would not be a problem but you could bend the tag repeatedly until it fractures through and remove it.

can an element warp? my fan is catching my element as it spins, not constantly though. When it starts hitting, i turn it up to 200° and it stops, turn it back down and it starts again. I need to figure out which part is the problem. I dont want to change the blade and it turn out to be the element, or change the element to find out its the motor. any help plz?
@eSpares
8 жыл бұрын
+DANSy aMAN Take the element cover off and look if the fan is touching or very near. As an element heats it softens and expands and this can cause its position to change.
@boulton455
8 жыл бұрын
+eSpares yes, the fan touches the element on the left side (my left when looking at it) there is lots of space to the right, but the left catches each "arm" of the fan blade.
@eSpares
8 жыл бұрын
+DANSy aMAN Sounds like a new element is required. When 'running' (the indicator will be lit) the element is almost red hot being cooled by the air circulating. If you turn straight off the element can overheat as the air no longer cools it and this can weaken it causing distortion or failure.
@boulton455
8 жыл бұрын
+eSpares ok, thank you very much. i will look at replacing the element then. once replaced, do you recommend after use, turning the heat off, and allowing the fan to run for a little while to cool down? to prevent it happening again?
@eSpares
8 жыл бұрын
+DANSy aMAN When turning off just turn down to minimum for thirty seconds to let the fan cool the element, then turn off.

@eSpares
7 жыл бұрын
You have not given a model number to confirm but we have seen some 'budget' fan ovens where there is no fan element. On these they use the heat from the grill element and the 'base' element and use the fan to circulate the air to even out the temperature. So it looks like this is the same on your machine.
@NUTTYNANNY100
7 жыл бұрын
Thanks that does sound about right, it fits the description of mine apart from the 'budget' aspect. It wasn't mega expensive about £480 but I'm not sure I would call it budget it either. These videos supply me with so much entertainment. I can't help but laugh my head off when I see them. As an engineer, I have seen so many people come on stuck trying to repair their own appliances. When it would only probably cost just a few quid to get an engineer out. I have been to umpteen jobs where they have butchered the appliance by watching these videos. And it cost them more to repair in the end. These videos are only put on the internet to get people to buy spares from them. Engineers get parts a lot cheaper than joe bloggs, So it would probably cost not much more than the part to get an engineer out. (AND YOU GET A 12 MONTH WARRANTY ON THE REPAIR). Is it really worth it? all for the sake of a few quid? Come on people!!!
@eSpares
5 жыл бұрын
Hi Terry, thank you for your post, our videos are to help everyone including technicians and it is not just about spares, in our experience if you charged a few quid I think most people would go for it but in reality the cost to call someone out is very expensive. We sell parts much cheaper than the manufacturers and you can see from the posts left most have no trouble fitting these parts with the help of our videos and the team that provide support for their questions, have a good day.
@tornadotez
5 жыл бұрын
Hi. You sell parts much cheaper because in most cases they are not original manufacturers parts. Don't blind people by telling them it is really expensive to call out an engineer. When in reality they just need to shop around and look for reviews. I have over 165 satisfied customer reviews. And my work is guaranteed for 12 month's. if the same problem occurs then it is covered by warranty. If Joe Bloggs decides to try the repair and there is an underlying problem and the part goes again. They will have to buy the part again. And when it comes to ovens not heating up. IT IS NOT ALWAYS THE ELEMENT AT FAULT. As an engineer, I would definitely not buy parts from sites such as yours, as these sites are destroying businesses and companies. Listen people! When in doubt call an engineer.
@eSpares
5 жыл бұрын
Hi Terry, we sell a range of part including compatible and original and the choice is the customers what they buy, we do understand it is not always the heating element but we will always give advice based on the fault and the eSpares team with over 90 years experience between them will help suggest what is wrong. it has been great to talk to you and we can both agree our customer are out priority, have a great day.
