Thanks for posting. Mine recently went bad (massive leak), and this shows me the complexity of fixing it.

Mine just went bad- my 08 has a slow leak on the right front and I’m thinking of buying a reman part. Any opinion on the reman parts? It’s significantly cheaper than a fully rebuilt one.

Nice video, but can't understand how to release from steering rod? Is it just slip-in with knurling and hold in place with bracket underneath, or some mechanism, like bolt/nut?

To get the rack out you had to lower the subframe. Did you lower on both sides or just unloosen the one side?
@ntvjk
5 жыл бұрын
Having done this. Yep. You need to drop the subframe all around. There’s 8 bolts in total. 2 at the front, 2 in the middle and 4 at the rear. Mark the frame on each corner before lowering so when you raise it can go back to the exact position. Otherwise you’ll have alignment headaches

Is rack and pinion problems common on this model Honda? I've looked at two 2007 to buy that both have r&p issues. BTW thanks for posting this. It helps me to see what's going on.

Fantastic video really help me a lot , I just was wondering if you removed the steering column before removing the steering rack , or just disconnected it at the rack connection? Thanks
@ntvjk
5 жыл бұрын
JOGO Just disconnect the column at the at the base of the drivers footwell. Be careful and make sure the steering column doesn’t turn too much as it will damage the internal spindle. Also done pull forward too far or the adjustment column will drop

Fantastic thanks , I replaced it today and will finish up tomorrow with tightening a few bolts and testing her out. I removed the steering only at the bottom and never let the steering go around. I'll find out tomorrow if there's any leaks. I purchased the unit at a salvage yard , it appears to be in good shape, but I wish I purchased a rebuilt or new one. It was a lot of work do to the damn rusty bolts. .. and if it s defective I'm going to be very upset having to do it all over again !! Lol thanks

Hi so I have good amount of tools. The mechanic charges me 1300$ to replace this. I’m thinking of doing it myself. I’ve changed my ps pump and high pressure ps hose. But this has me a bit nervous. Should I do this on my own?

As they get older things will eventually go bad. No car lasts forever. By the way, even Toyotas and Hondas can have problems when new. It’s just way less common compared to other brands. Things will get old and break down on every car. Some sooner than others.
