Thank you for this mate, you helped me out when my bleed valve wouldn't close and I had to replace it and didn't have a clue how. Lifesaver!

Silly question, once you cracked open the bleed nipple and no more water comes out, doesn’t this suggest its ok to unscrew it and replace without draining? Im just trying avoid draining if i can as when i replaced the rad last time i know i full well forced a large rad between existing pipework designed for imperial rad, i even had to cut the tails to fit so its a tight squeeze

There'll still be water that comes out because the small bleed screw hole is in the centre of the big nut. You can just use a towel down to catch any water if you don't want to drain it, and do it quick.

@@HouseWarm Makes sense I think I'll try a quick swap and accept there will be a bit of a mess haha, Thanks a million for the quick response!

Are the bleed values all the same size for this type of radiator🤔

What do I do if the screw is broken? Do I just skip the step with releasing the pressure?
@HouseWarm

Yeah, but the water will most likely squirt out fast so be prepared. Crack it slowly.

Do you mean after fitting a new bleed valve?

Can you replace the nut on the opposite side at the top and what is it called?...mine are rusty and i sometimes get the odd brown dribble...thanks in advance.
@HouseWarm

Yeah, it's called a radiator blanking plug. The bleed valve and blanking plug usually come in a pair like this one on Amazon amzn.to/3w8MSRL

@@HouseWarm Thank's...is it then just a case of topping the pressure up on the boiler (combi)
@HouseWarm

@@pr9062 Yeah, if the pressure drops to below 1 bar then top it up, but you don't typically need to unless you empty too much water out of the radiator.

Mine have rusted around the blanking plate and a couple of the bleed valves. Do you think it would need a new radiator because of the leaks?
@HouseWarm
5 ай бұрын
@@lucipherj possibly but a lot of the time it'll fix the leak by replacing the blank or bleed valve. It's usually leaking because the rubber o ring seal has perished, but new ones come with new rubbers.
