Excellent video. I've done a few thermostats before and figured this would be a 10 minute job, but when I went to look for it I couldn't find it. Thanks to your video I have more confidence in changing the thermostat tomorrow. Thanks from Mike in Oregon

Thank you for this great video. I need to replace my radiator on the same car. But I will be replacing the thermostats with a new one for sure. Just feel that's the best way to go. Again TY.

I would consider that to be bad because the thermostat opened slowly it should pop open fast i had a car that i tested the thermostat and it opened i visually saw it open but it opened kinda lightly well that ended up not letting the hot water pass when it needed it to which made the coolant boil over and it wouldn't show on the temp gauge on that car but it damaged the car cause i had to drive it home but i did what I had to do but the thermostat is a inexpensive part you should just replace if you think it needs replacing just do it. Don't take it apart to look at just replace the thing

Hi I have a couple of questions if you could kindly answer. First why did you add coolant through the hose and also by removing the cap. ? I mean shouldn't just filling up the coolant reservoir be enough to pull the coolant through the engine and the radiator? Second I replaced my radiator because it had a leak. I filled up the coolant reservoir but id not pull the coolant to the radiator when I turned on the engine. Basically no flow of coolant. The engine started overheating. Any idea what the problem is.

What program are you using? Where it shows the diagram and where the bolts are?

thanks for the video... but if I go all the way to removing the thermostat i'm throwing it away and putting a new one. They are like $12, for all you know it could be ready to quit in the next 10,000 miles, anyway. One time i had one jam shut and I admit an idiot, didn't notice and it blew a hole in a piston when it overheated... just change it and forget testing them

Why would you put coolant through the hose instead of the coolant cap at the engine? Or it doesn't flow to the radiator on its own?
@ponyotran2996

I think if you add cooling from the hose, you get less chance to get air bubble in the system. But not too sure. And is also fast to add cooling in from the hose.

@@ponyotran2996 thank you for the quick reply. I'm asking because I've just changed the thermostat following your video (thank you) but it's now overheating after 3-5min driving. I filled it up through the cap.. maybe there's air in the system? Do you know how could I fix that?

Did you put in the thermostat the right way? 11 clock?

@@ponyotran2996 yes I did, followed everything you did, except filling it up with coolant through the hose. I also didn't test the new thermostat as I didn't have a way to do it where I was. But it's brand new
