Thanks for this, and thanks also for showing what NOT to do (use a metal jimmy to get the back off), to avoid ripping that cable. Just replaced mine last night, and it went easier than I expected. Curiously, my Harmony remote didn't have any sticky stuff holding the battery in place - so once I unscrewed the cage, it was easy to remove & replace. Thanks again.

Thank you for creating this video. Your advice about that ribbon cable was very useful. Managed to replace my battery successfully in about 10 minutes. It might be useful to know that my model has a vibration motor that is attached to the main board and needs to be unplugged before removing the back.

Thanks for sharing, this really helped. As another commenter mentioned, mine too has a vibration module which needs to be disconnected as well since it is attached to the back plate. The small circuit board on the battery housing comes off in a little tricky way but if you are gentle enough with tools, the battery can be detached with a guitar pick tool. I was nervous about using a sharp tool to remove the battery and accidentally puncturing it. in the end, it worked well, currently charging my remote and I could tell already that it is working ok now since the old battery would send a wrong signal to the device that it was fully charged and remote would auto shut off charging. This time it is showing me that battery is being charged. Fingers crossed!

Thanks. I managed to get the battery cage out. I was worried about prying out the battery with that top circuit board there. Thought if I pryed it with it in the vid I'd either break the board or crack the battery and start a fire. So the trick to get the cage out is undo all 4 screws. Then lift the small top board a little above the plastic tabs it locks into. Then rotate it clockwise a bit which allows you to free the plastic stand at the bottom. With the battery and cage out, prying the battery out is easy and risk free.

Hi. Thanks so much for getting back to me. I'm in Ireland so would have thought the Amazon UK link would work. All I can find online are generic (Cameron Sino Tech, etc.) batteries - usually li-ion too (instead of li-poly) and slightly smaller (i.e. 1050mAh). Doesn't seem to be any Logitech branded or even just 1100mAh 3.7. Will keep digging, but would be great if you have a link. Thanks again.
@HowToPM

Ireland! Such a beautiful country that I would like to visit after the pandemic! :) I have updated the link for Ireland. But I didn't find better then you. It's the Cameron Sino Tech. The most important to watch is the voltage. This must match to voltage of the previous battery. The slightly lower mAh will only reduce the usage time of the remote by few minutes, wich will still be far greater than your old original Logitech battery. I hope this will help! Cheers from Canada! :)

This made me cringe! Not just the part where you use a metal screwdriver to prise apart the case, breaking the screen connector... but the part where you attempt to free the battery (also with a screwdriver) without removing the battery housing from the motherboard. That whole black case can be removed relatively easily (with some care) making it much easier to remove the battery without risking damaging the motherboard underneath. A sturdy guitar plectrum is what you use to prise apart cases without damaging (if you're not willing to spend $2 on a plastic spudger).

these remotes are utter garbage, i hope to see Logitech go completely out of business in the next few years, no way they cost more than 20 bucks to manufacture, they are poorly manufactured and supported...the touch was our second after our first model broke, now our touch is stuck on the harmony screen and no amount of turning off, rebooting, trying to connect to their garbage slow desktop app helps at all, good riddance to logitech, their computer products are junk

On the flip side, I love Logitech. I had a previous remote, which had a swollen battery that I couldn't remove. This was after owning the remote for about four years (so long past the warranty). I sent them a picture of it, and they sent me a brand new Harmony Elite as a replacement the next day. No charge. That's what I call customer support.
