This video really helped me out some years ago when I was in some financial trouble and needed repairs. I was able to change the front and back for waaaay less than the quotes I was getting for just the front. I just watched one of your other videos to change the cabin air filter on my new car. Just wanted to reach out and say THANKS!

They may be similar. On some vehicles you need to turn the caliper in using a special tool that fits into a couple of holes on the backside of the caliper (not sure if this is set up that way). If they're not, you would be able to collapse them just like the front ones.

Thanks to 1A Auto! I ordered a brake pad kit for my '02 Impala to replace the factory brakes (yes, they were 21 years old, yes, I'm stupid, and surprisingly all but one were still in decent shape. That one, though... YEESH.) and they were the right fit at the right price, just like all the parts I've ordered! 2 headlight kits (factory original lasted 5 years, replacements lasted 18), window regulators (factory original lasted 5 years, replacements lasted 15), hazard light module, and (I think?) blinker/cruise/washer stick. 1A Auto is the first place I look for parts. I watched this video while doing the first one, and it's easy to follow along!

Yes the will seem loose because they kind of float on the hubs until everything is put back on and the brake calipers are pumped back up.

Great vid, very nicely done. Noticed it while looking up a "Plan B" for a stripped bleeder bolt on a front caliper for a 2002 Impala. Will go hunt to see if you have a caliper rebuild tutorial.

Thank you for this video. I just replaced my front brake pads and rotors on a 2009 Chevrolet Impala LS 3.5 liter. I noticed I had two pistions per caliper. I pushed back each piston separately - was that the correct procedure??? Also, each rotor was held to the hub by a torx screw (I couldn't figure out at first why the rotor would not come lose). Basically the overall procedure was the same. I pumped the brakes, took it for a test drive, and all is well. Thanks again! No more pulsating!

Awesome Video! It was clearly explained and demonstrated. I do have 1) question, I need to replace the rear disc breaks on my 2003 impala. Are the same basic steps and principals involved in replacing the rear disc breaks as the front disc breaks? Thanks again for this video.

just a couple notes: you should use silicone paste on the long bolts . and i found if your rotor is rusted you can hit the rotor it the center near to bolts holes and itll come lose i had the problem where it mechanically welded itself . also you didnt note you needed a c-clamp in the title. hope this helps

I noticed you put the C Clamp inside The piston on the caliper, I was told not to do that for reasons I don't remember, but was told to use the old pad to put even pressure on the piston to push it back in. Plus you never mentioned that if the brake fluid was recently filled with worn down brake pads that they might have to remove some of the brake fluid so it doesn't over flow.
@1AAuto

+Todd Bach Thank you for checking us out, as well as the question. The method you use will evenly compress the caliper piston, but we have not experienced an issue with using the c clamp on the caliper piston. 1aauto.com

Usually what you can do is leave the old brake pad on, and use the old pad to collapse the two calipers together with a C-Clamp. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

Did you have all 4 done, or just the front/back? Could be that the the mechanic didn't use any grease on the slides or pad backing plates. You should be able to take the car back to where you had the work done and tell the mechanic what you're hearing. They ought to fix it right for you. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com?KZitem&CTA%20Comment&ATony 866-403-3393

He changed all the breaks and rotors he's my boyfriends uncle he goes to people's houses to fix cars he used to work at a shop which is why I trusted him my boyfriend put some break cleaner on the breaks but they are still squeaking and it's driving me nuts because I'm the type of woman that keeps up with her car and feel that something ain't right. I appreciate the response so much thank you.

Ask him if he used any brake grease on the parts when you can. Brake clean removes any oil on the brakes that might be there from when the parts shipped. But there is also a grease that you apply to some of the surfaces to keep them from making noise, so he may have forgotten to apply it. If he is experienced, then have him take it for a drive and see what he says. No problem. Glad to hear it helped you out. 1aauto.com?KZitem&CTA%20Comment&ATony 866-403-3393
