Don't just stick new brushes in!!! I spent an entire day troubleshooting the brushes, until i dismantled the motor and finally realised my new brushes were slightly too big and weren't sliding freely. So i filed them along their length and made sure they were smaller than the shaft. Also i took a wire brush to the rotor. Back together again and washing machine working. Hope this helps someone else.

Thanks for sharing this with us all. Just a note, you dont have to remove the motor neither losen any bolt, everything can be done from the bottom.

Hi, good tip thanks, how does one know if bushing need replacing. Is there any alarm that comes on the screen. Or is it based on noise or years of normal usage. Thanks

Usually yes but one of the brushes is in a very awkward position so for the sake of 5 more mins I’d rather take the motor off

Some models give an error code but dosent always mean the brushes are faulty, it’s usually a general “motor fault” meaning it could be the motor itself or even wiring

Remove the old brushes and by their length you will know.

BIG thank you for this video all the way from New Zealand! We called Bosch first but their technicians are fully booked until next Friday. Cost for them to come have a look is $100, labor is $100 per hour. The cost of new motor is $400. After watching your video I bought the carbon brushes online for $27 including shipping which was delivered overnight. Took me and my husband an hour and half in total to replaced the brushes and hooray! the washing machine is running like new again. THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

As our machine failed to spin or empty I realised there was a problem. Started looking around and came to the conclusion it may be the brushes then came across your video (and many others). As we're in lock-down there was is option, not that I shy away from these err challenges. So that was the easy part, I'll return when I've either destroyed the machine or fixed the issue. Cheers BC

Its a shame that Bosch do not make the inspection panel bigger so that the motor can be removed without tipping the machine - thankfully I watched this video because I was about to turn the machine upside down to access the motor!

Thank you! I am intending to do the rubber seal, brushes and door lock this weekend. Just repaired the door rings as I begrudge paying £58 plus for the front ring and £28 for the inner. Flimsy plastic to hold the glass is just a silly idea. Otherwise this model of washing machine has been a good one. (touch wood) ;)

Just how often do the bushes on the motors go as i have a 2011 Bosh Classixx 6 machine that a pensioner had owned for a short period of time due to her passing away recently I''d say the machine by looking how clean it is had about 6 years use in its 10 year life

They usually last a good 10 years with normal use, if yours has only had light use then it’s got years in it yet easily

toptip: drill a hole in the backside panel (size 10 will do) where the one bolt is difficult to get to.

I had a similar problem. You need to make sure both brushes are making full contact with the rotor. FULL CONTACT. i had to dismantle my motor to check this.
