For those of us without enough clearance: Place a hydraulic jack with some kind of wood under the center of oil pan till it just makes contact, then just enough so it’s taking just a little weight off the motor mounts. Loosen the 3 bolts on the right (passenger) side of engine motor mounts. They are right under the air intake, you cannot miss them. Loosen them evenly, a few millimeters each at a time. Check the jack is firm and taking weight of engine. Continue loosening until almost loose. Engine should have dropped a little, but then bolts should have started rising out after engine stopped dropping. Use jack to lift a little to check that weight is on jack. Loosen bolts completely. *CAREFULLY* lower jack just a little bit, just less than an inch. Remove pulley and pump through extra clearance. 😉 Once pump is installed, *CAREFULLY* Lift engine until there is about 1/2” of space between motor mount halves. Screw in MM bolts until all three start making contact. Lift a little Screw a little Lift a little Screw a little Until mount makes contact, then torque to spec. Mount belt, finish job. 😉

Folks watching this need to know that loosening (but not removing) the bolts on the pulley BEFORE REMOVING THE BELT is the best way. I followed your video and had to eventually go back and put the belt back on because, when working from the ground, there ain't no easy way to keep the pulley from turning while removing those bolts. All the other videos tell you this Don't take it personally.

3.3L was a breeze. No need to mess with engine mount. 1/2" (shield) , 10mm (water pump), large crescent or tensioner tool (remove/install belt), flat head ( coolant hose clamp) 1. Remove tire 2. Remove bottom splash guard ( 1/2) socket 3. Losen pulley bolts (10mm) 4. Remove belt 5. Take off pulley 6. Remove lower coolant hose and drain into pan 7. Remove water pump bolts ( 10mm) 8. Clean Surface where water pump bolts onto off ( razor blade, soft wire brush) 9. Install gasket on Water pump and install pump back on. * if your surface was coroded and has pits in it use some RTV apply to the pitted areas. or just go around the whole surface generously and install pump and bolts finger tight. wait an hour to let dry up a bit and then torque bolts down to 105 inch pounds 10. install Pulley and 3 bolts. * you can use a screw driver poke through pulley hole and wedge against the block to be able to snug bolts down. 10. re-install bottom coolant hose 11. Reinstall belt ( under hood should have belt routing sticker. If not double check online) 12. put splash shield back on 13. put tire back on ( torque 100ft pounds) 14. Let car sit and allow RTV to dry up for 24hours ( or as long as you can if you cant wait 24 hours. Needs at least a couple hours. 15. Refill Coolant (have couple gallons handy of 50/50) system holds 10.5 quarts. 16. start and run till hot make sure heater blows hot 17. check again after cools down to make sure its full

@maggiealena
Жыл бұрын
I disconnected my belt from the top end with 1/2 ratchet. Only takes about 30 seconds. Then loosen the passenger side front wheel and Jack the front end. Take off the plastic skirt. Finish moving the belt out of the way. Drain the water out of radiator and hoses then there should be only a small amount of water that comes out of water pump when removed. No need to buy special tools. Remove the water pump pulley and bolt of water pump. Once removed undo the pipe just below and change gasket and while pipe is still disconnected take out the water pump. Put gasket on new pump and reinstall everything backwards order, then your done. Don't forget to put back the inner fend skirt and all the plastic panel plugs to secure. It's best to put serpentine belt on from the top. Yeah it's a little fiddly but only takes a few second if you know how it goes on.
@MrAjay-tq9bi

Just was surfing dodge vids an saw yours very accurate especially on the lift but one thing you never really identified the problem only the water pump. So on inlet water pump hose at the end of the video you said change the gasket on the tube a 2$ part..if the gasket is flat it will leak also in the front passenger side of the engine. So how did you conclude it was the water pump and not the gasket from the tube. I have the same issue but not overheating. Is that not a sign of a bad water pump also.🤔

What was the pipe called for the piece where you said to change the O ring for? What size O-Ring is needed?
@smallenginemedic
5 жыл бұрын
That is the water inlet pipe. Felpro makes the specific O-Ring for it. It's not one you can get from the hardware. When you go to put it back together, use a thin covering of Sil-glyde to help it slide into the housing. Most auto parts stores sell a small "pillow pack" of it near the registers. It is the lubricant you use on brake caliper slide pins when you change brake pads.

Yes you do. Put a jack and block of wood under the oil pan. Loosen the 3 engine mount bolts from the top closest to passenger side fender. Leave them threaded in 3 or 4 turns. Lower the jack until the engine bottoms on the bolts. Now you have room to remove the pump. I didn't see him do that. Remove the lower radiator hose from the water inlet tube to drain coolant. So much easier and cleaner.
