I have worked on cars for decades. Every time we get a newer car in the family fleet, I like a quick refresher before a job just to see if there are any quirks that I should know about. This is easily the best video I have watched on brakes. Straight forward, no obnoxious info, graphics or music and very well done. Thanks much.

By far, the best video on this subject I've seen! Thank you. I like that you added text to the video also. Not taking the time to clean and lube the parts as you've described just cost me the price of at least one rotor.

Great video. I’m glad I found it because I’m getting ready to do this on my coworker’s car for a little extra cash. What brand is the split beam torque wrench you’re using in this video? Also, you said torque the last caliper slide bolts to 20 foot pounds, but the torque wrench in your link is 25 foot pounds at its lowest setting.

@1:46 After brushing the surface, can you apply the Navy Rust Remover to remove more rust, or it is not good to apply it in that area? And @3:09 same question about Navy Rust Remover application. @2:15 What a brilliant idea to clean the rotors that way! Thank you for the informative and detailed film.

@arte9855

Better yet crack open the bleeder valve on the caliper to evacuate the old fluid as you push the pistons back in. That way IF you happen to have some contamination in the brake system you don't push that back into the antilock valve, Causing more problems.

Always open the bleeder valve when compressing the piston because those brake lines have one way valves for anti lock brake system. Reverse fluid flow will damage that valve.

@@lucaswang93 finally managed to get that one off with some penetrating oil, giant adjustable pliers, a hammer, and some luck.... I got the first bolt off, but the second stripped.... After wacking at it for an hour, the second finally came loose. Same exact problem on the back right passenger wheel. 😭. So far no luck on that one after 4 days of trying.
