How To Replace Honda Camshaft Plugs (B-series, Non-VTEC)
Part Number: HONDA 12513-P72-003
In this video I show you how to replace the camshaft plug on Honda B-series engines, without VTEC.
Oil leaks from the Camshaft Plug are extremely common, as the O-Ring shrinks, as seen in the video. This issue is commonly misdiagnosed as a valve cover gasket leak, when it is in fact a much simpler fix. The process is very simple, simply remove the old cap and snap a new one back in.
There are alternatives to this OEM style, which require the removal of the valve cover and one of the Camshaft bearing caps for install, but I think a new OEM style plug will work excellently.
VTEC Head Engines use this other style of plug, and require removal of the valve cover. The method shown in this video will not work for these engines, as you won't be able to pull out the plug.
I hope this video helps someone fix their oil leaks! I've put this job off for a very long time, but it really couldn't be a simpler fix, and only costs around $10 in materials and 10 minutes of your life!
