Thank-you so much for your helpful videos! My grandmother was a master seamstress in Boston. She could sew (with or without patterns), take off, put on and/or replace anything when it came to sewing. I am not that way. Just starting out and so far, trying to not sew my fingers together. This video gave me enough courage to replace the broken snaps on my cape! Again, Thank-you! Thanks! I'm teaching myself to hand sew and embroider like found on 1800's dresses and coats. So far, my fingers are still intact. You're right. My grandma was bad ass, but she didn't know it. She could just look at a coat in the windows of say, Filene’s, Newmark's or Jordan Marsh. Study it carefully. Go home and copy the coat exactly without a pattern. Holy Mother Of Puppies! WAWAK ROCKS! I set up an account there and plan to buy a lot!. I've built enough courage to buy the snaps and the tools needed for my cape. When my mom passed, I got my cape I had lent her back. For some Brain-Fart reason, the nursing home laundry people had removed all the snaps and replaced them with Velcro. Needless to say I was mad as hell! :)

The best hammer for striking a punch is a Ball peen hammer. They come in different oz so the weight will give you more downward force for different levels of jobs. 16 oz should be enough for snaps but 24 oz might do it in one strike. I hope this helps and thank you for the video. 🙏

The snaps already lost they’re color and need to be changed, but my issue is that type of fabric is probably very easy to rip or cut or damage bc it doesn’t any resistance to pull or pushing the snaps around I imagine, so would you recommend me to find someone to do it or do you think i could try it by myself? Thank you so much!

I think that's a question for you to answer. How comfortable do you feel with it? If the snap is functioning properly and you just want to change the color, maybe look into getting some nail polish to touch up the color instead of replacing the snaps.

Yes, I think that should work as long as the area you're adding the snap to isn't too thick. If it's too thick there may not be enough length on the parts to properly lock together when you hammer them.

You're asking how to make a coverall into a jacket? That's more redesigning than alterations. I couldn't say exactly what you need to do without seeing how the garment is constructed, but it will be a fairly advanced process.

Are there any women's jeans that close with snap buttons?

I'm sure there are. But a bachelor button is much more common on jeans.

thank you for informing me early in i can't re=use parts. i'm not a sewing dude and i am used to being able to refurbish and re use parts. i may have wasted like a half hour trying to fix a jacket but this video saved me from even more wasted time!

Please don't take this the wrong way because I truly mean it as the highest of praise, it is so so VERY refreshing to see a girl doing something actually feminine and not being embarrassed to do it. Not only are you not embarrassed your knowledge on the subject matter is very evident. Definitely a breath of fresh air.
