Thanks for the video. If you have the 550 engine do you have to take the fan out to do this procedure? Also if you drain the coolant out from underneath before doing this will all that pour out when you take off the oil cooler?

Did you have to replace the thermostat gasket? Any leaks since I am assuming you didn't change it?
@RothBeyondTheGrave

Definitely replace that gasket. Even my new gasket that came w/ the OE Borg Warner thermostat leaked. Replaced the thermo preventatively as it's a high failure unit on M272's, & the new one failed in a yr. Fun! Next time I got a genuine gasket from the dealer & it was easily twice as thick as the OE & hasn't leaked in 3 yrs.

cool beats during the job. i'm doing one right now and to me it looks like the old OE gaskets are a gasket & RTV mix, plus when i size the new gaskets they look really sloppy inside the grooves. i hope it won't be an issue. i know the new gaskets will get pressed into position and spread out a bit, but still, i find the gap is a bit excessive. what do you think ?
@a2zautomasters862

It should only be the gasket there. Someone might’ve been there before and try to fix it with RTV. The gasket shouldn’t have any gap or play.

This was my experience. I'll now be doing this job for the 3rd time (sort of). Only did cooler gasket 1st time, did job like this vid 2nd time & gaskets would not sit flush whatsoever. Cooler is leaking again because the units themselves also fail internally or can crack. Likely why you found rtv in there as well. Someone thought they'd be slick. This entire assembly has been revised and old unit is superceded for good reason.

Do you have to drain the coolant to do this? I tried flushing the coolant some time ago and the petcock broke and I don’t want to mess with that.
@RothBeyondTheGrave

You do have to drain the coolant. If you don't, it will come gushing out from the hose, thermostat, & filter housing assembly once you remove them. Either way, that coolant is coming out! Just depends on how much of a mess you do or don't want to make. My sister's petcock broke on her w203, so I disconnected the lower rad house & drained that way.

Very excellent and tidy work. But my question is, was there a mixer with the water tank. Or did you just change the coolant gasket? There was no mixing. Please answer or ask another way why. Changed the gasket.

@@mohamedothman3905 first of all, thank you for watching and I really appreciate your comment. There was no mixing in this case but once you take it a part you should just change all gaskets. It was only an oil leak in the is case. I did see cases where it did mix.

@@mohamedothman3905 there are ways to check coolant hydrometer is one way to check coolant. Also coolant can be recycled. You can run the coolant throw a filter and get any contaminated out.

Will this issue create extreme pressure on the coolant lines? Specifically, the Upper Radiator Hose? Causing it to seep through the seam of hose Connector on the Radiator Side, between the Hose Connector and the Radiator? I replaced the Thermostat, which was actually Damaged, but the issue Persisted. I want to replace the Oil Cooler & Oil Filter Housing Gaskets. But before I commit to this procedure, I would greatly appreciate any & all advice. I recently replaced the Upper Radiator Hose & relief or overflow hose that connects to the Radiator Hose on my 2006 Mercedes Benz E350 $Matic Sedan, as well as the thermostat. Once the Motor Heats Up, the Pressure Builds & starts to seep out through the area between the hose connector and the radiator itself. Can this be the cause? or, should I try another Diagnosis? Any Advice Given will be Greatly appreciated. Thank You. i will keep an eye/ear open for your anticipated Response/Instructions or Suggestions to this issue which has me Stumped for over 2 Month's.

The oil filter housing / cooler seal won't cause extreme pressure issue. It might cause oil leak, coolant leak or both and in some cases might cause the oil and coolant to mix. The question is, does your car overheat when that high pressure happens? It might be a head gasket problem.

@@a2zautomasters862 Thank you for your response. The Coolant kept seeping out of the weakest points once it heated up, never the same spot in a row. I was afraid that it could be the Head Gasket.
