Followed your video and just switched out my failed starter motor. Started right up! So grateful for the extra time you took explaining the why not just the how. Really helps us neurodivergents. And great shots of the part and its surroundings helped me find the stupid thing in the sea of rust, grease, and debris under my truck. Thanks, sir!

I know this channel isn’t the biggest car channel in the world, but I wanted to let you know I enjoy your videos more than the big time youtubers. You will make it there.

2001 Silverado, 5.3, original owner. never had any work done to it and the starter finally gave out at 250k miles. Watched a dozen of these videos and they all make it look easy... but.... my starter hits the frame/motor mount, and the solenoid hits the oil dipstick tube. I can move the starter all but the last 1" or so to get the snout out of the bell housing, but no further. Got the two starter bolts out and the single dust cover bolt out, but the snout inside the bell housing blocks any further work. Can't even get the dust cover to fall loose.

So how’s you overcome it? I’m thinking of just having the mechanic do mine on my 06 since the transmission and engine mounts are getting replaced
@vanbilly8387

@@armandol1826 I ended up pulling the plastic inner fender and disconnecting the battery cable and the signal wire. Those were the cause of it not moving forward enough to drop out. It was the original starter and had never been touched, so I don't know how so many people are able to leave those connected and drop the starter, then disconnect them. The wires were where the factory put them. I'd just let your mechanic replace it, while he's doing the other work. No sense in adding extra aggravation to yourself.

@@vanbilly8387 thanks for the heads up. I’m not against the work but if I have someone down there I might as well as avoid the aggravation or headache. Because I’m not chancing the mounts

Did you find out about the deal to have all the headlights on for 99-02 silverado. Like that one you have on your tahoe

I haven't. They don't make an easy drop in option like the tahoe.

@@TWAMotorsports you should try the one you have on the Tahoe in the Silverado and see if it works and let us know. I bet it will work. Should be about the same fuse box. Please. I'm trying to get one but I wanna make sure it will work in my 2000 Silverado.

@@TWAMotorsports Got it done and running again. Probably the most helpful part was knowing to have an angled pick in hand to get that sensor plug off with no fight. Needed every bit of that space to get the starter out.
