Good video - Please note that polarity on the wiring is important. You need to determine which post is Negative and which is positive for rewiring. You might be able to see that on the old speaker prior to removing the wires

Cool trick but I ordered a kit from Crutchfield and had Best Buy install them for me for $74.99. The douche who owned the car before me blew both front speakers.

Great video. Make it even easier by buying Metra-72-7300 Speaker harness connector. Then there's no cutting any wires.Installed 2 speakers in less than an hour. Thanks.

This helped a lot. Thanks for making a video. Im installing Pyle PL63BL 6.5 inch speakers in my 2009 Sonata. I guess il trash the OEMs and put the new ones in. On top of that, I got a Rockford Fosgate P3D4-10 10 inch subwoofer hooked up to a 1000 watt Kenwood KAC-7205 amp in the trunk. OEM radio still.... No plans to replace the radio.

Great job. What about the monsoon system? The two speakers have to be wired a certain way. I blew my amp under passenger seat because of it. Did you have any problem with that? Is yours a monsoon system? Can anyone clear me up regarding wiring of these speakers?

I just did this on my mother in law's 2010 Santa Fe, I used Rockford Fosgate P165's. They didn't fit inside the housings like the Kickers, but I drilled the rivets, removed the old speaker enclosures, and modified them. I just spliced onto the wires with small pigtails leaving the OEM wiring wrap alone. Then just re-installed the speaker housings with the new speakers and used bolts/nuts/washers to secure them to the door.

It's awesome to see a woman taking the initiative (especially with those sexy nails) to install her own set of speakers! I enjoyed the video very much but I did notice you did a lot more work then you really needed to. I just recently installed a set of speakers in my sisters car (2007 sonata) and the set up looks similar to what you have there. The only thing is you do not have to tear apart the speaker like that and poke a hole in the mounting ring affixed to the door. Just above the surround of the speaker you will notice a foam ring (again not the surround ring on the speaker, but just above the speaker there is a foam trim ring, it helps to seal the speaker to the door so all the sound comes out through the grill in the door and not lost behind the panel). Once you remove said foam ring you will see the screws holding the speaker in place (there were four in my case).

If you don't mind taking a small road trip to your local audio shop there is actually adapters you can buy to use the vehicles factory speaker wire harness that is very inexpensive (I got a 10 pack for $20). I know I'm a day late and a dollar short but in future if you ever come across this again you'll know! I'm just trying to be helpful, not bash you, and give the advice to other you tubers that might be looking at how to do this. Great video though! I like a woman who isn't afraid of work! 😀👍✌️

Looks like you can also get a pop riveter and drill out the rivets and then install speaker and pop rivet the housing back on...

Good job, I did this same project on a 2006 Sonata but I did it the tough way, by drilling out the rivets and removing that plastic housing. This method is much better. What sucked was that I used Focal 6.5 components and they were a little too big to fit into the housing nicely like your Kickers did.

very awesome, but, it is important to get the postive and negative correct, if its not, you will lose much of the bass as the speakers work against each other, not with each other, the last door, on your video, i can tell the postive and neg are reversed, due to the speaker going in on the bass hits instead of coming out, i bet it sounds crisp and clean but not much bass,

Great video! I did the same exact thing on my 2007 Elantra. I'm in the process of redoing all speakers and I think I might had some thin weatherstripping around the back of the speaker. The 6.5" does fit nice, but not perfect.

Future reference, just splice the speaker wire and use a couple of wire crimps to attach some new speaker wire that will give the length you need to attach to the speaker....a lot faster =)
