Good video. Thanks for your determination. That bottom bolt is what's making me want to take it to the shop. But I see it can be done with the right wrench. Thanks for the inspiration.

That's how mine is as well it's hard crack and then clicks then it starts! Should I just change the starter?

I think i would have taken the plastic belt cover off drilled a hole in rear panel as to fit a socket from my 1/4 in drive socket to get the right 10mm bolt out .then put a plastic body fender plug in the hole i drilled . easier than cutting bolt i think for replacement . you got it done and thats what counts . good job !

On my 2005 500 HO the clutch cover vent wraps up over the gas tank, would removing the air box allow access to starter? thanks

Not sure on a 2005. But the more you can get out of the way, the better.

Is this the same configuration as the 2004 600 sportsman.? Is the clutch cover a real challenge as well.
@canamsledder

I think they are a little different. Yes the clutch cover can be a challenge with the footwell in the way.

If the starter button doesn't work to start it but it lights up at the starter switch but doesn't start the starter so far I've been jumping solenoid and tapping on the starter for it to work the quad I do have is not a sportsman but it's a magnum 500 everybody says Sportsman and Magnums are the same but anyway my main question is where does it truly ground out at from the starter I know the starter needs to be ground but doesn't need to be ground to the battery or the frame?

It grounds through the motor/frame. Sounds like a bad solenoid to me. Does the solenoid click when you hit the button? If not, probably the solenoid.
