I still think it's crazy what you have to remove to reach the airfilter (of any bike), You would think engineers would think of it how to reach objects easier for maintenance and such. But you have done it with great skill, almost like a surgeon.

The Toolbox is from SWMOTECH: sw-motech.com/bike/BMW/S1000XR/2020/2X99+-K69-/Produkte/Gepaeck/Seitentraeger/Adapter+Zubehoer/4052572222645.htm It's worth mentioning that it's only compatible with their Pro Sidecarrier pannier system, with regards to mounting it.

Nice to see a bit of alcohol fuelled garage faffery going on again. Noticeably less burbs though.... That looks a bit of a PITA to do. I thinks its easier taking the tank of my 1290 to fit an air filter 😂. They do sound good though, the inline 4's with a nice induction note. Hopefully we'll get a better sound check in videos to come. Good work Shaun 👍

@@thelikeablerider8800 fair enough. A dealer issue is probably related to lost revenue due to the need for infrequent air filter replacements. I like K&N filters so I'm going to see what my local dealer has to say. Thanks again !

Hi Glad you liked it! I haven't had any issues with overheating, XR's do run hotter than any other bike I've owned, but they're known for that. Haven't had the filter out since installing it, so couldn't comment on the dust problem you mentioned.

It might be worth considering changing back to the OEM filter as K&N are known for poor quality filtering. There is no real benefit other than being reusable but you don't change it often anyway. Not trying to be negative but just making you aware.

And that information you got from the web…probably a forum or a keyboard warrior that never has used one ?Actual riders that have been running K&N for decades on cars and bikes say otherwise. I have never had an issue with their filters, as long as you inspect and clean as often as you would replace a paper unit. The advantages, nicer induction sound and they are reusable.
