I'm not Samsung certified or by no means a phone expert but in my experience a battery that is near end of life usually doesn't hold a charge. Most certified refurbished companies will test the batteries to make sure they hold at least 80% charge before shipping. If it goes below that it's going to degrade rapidly. If it's holding a full charge you should have some life left

Yeah, I had a bit of a change of heart too. Not quite as bad as I thought the worst scenario could be, but still a bit of a risky pain in the rear. To me it looked kinda like you may not need to take that speaker/shroud part off at the bottom so if not, I'm hoping to skip that part. If I ever change it now, I think I'll try it myself as the battery was only around AUD$18 on Ebay & I recently got quoted AUD$350 At a vendor/repairer in a shopping mall. I'd had 3 deterioration messages(s10) & at least one on my s7, & multiple overheats some time before that on both phones. All after I started playing fishland & farmland on Temu. Those bl00dy stupid games are so processor inefficient they heat the phone up fast to crazy amounts especially when your phone is trying to do other stuff simultaneously. To anyone reading this: if you want to play those games on your s10 or s7, (& pobably the s8 & s9 too) practice these 5 things to preserve your battery: --- Always play with power saver on as it will limit your Cpu to 70% --- Don't have a miniplayer video going from any app while your playing --- don't be fast charging while playing. --- Have it out of it's case wherever practical while playing as heat can dissipate quicker that way. --- Try to not have the screen brightness over ⅔ to ¾. I did this today, video was a great help! Tip to anyone doing this: be sure to calibrate your battery after installing the replacement. 1. Charge uninterrupted to 100% and charge for around 30 minutes to an hour extra 2. Run down to near 0% battery with normal use 3. Charge back to 100% uninterrupted and leave for an hour extra charging This just allows the software on your phone the calibrate to the new battery and monitor how much power it has left accurately :)

Yeah so half of these steps I won't be doing, my battery overheated and all the adhesives came off, all of it. The back cover comes off easily, the plastic camera part connected to the back cover, the black piece he unscrewed is loose enough to bend back.. pretty sure when I get my battery tomorrow it will only be take the battery out, as it's already falling out on own, reconnect flex cable to new battery and then lastly... see if the battery comes with an adhesive to glue everything... I will also perhaps test my phone and turn it on before i glue it all up. Super hope the battery has been the issue. It seems my s10 didn't like to have nearly 100% storage capacity used, and using everyday all day having all my apps, social media etc, open. I'd like to get a phone that can handle the amount of things I do on it... but im hoping my s10 will be able to with the new battery. I remember originally switching from an iPhone 3GS back in the days to a Galaxy Note 2 and the fact that I had expandable storage with the ablity to change battery so easily was such an astounding feature; I didn't want to go back cause it mean this phone would be so future-proof and it was, it lasted me like 5 years before the screen cracked. These days Samsung have taken note of planned obsolesence so much so that they now completely solidly glue the battery of the S10 in the phone in hopes that you don't try change batteries a year or two later (when they inevitably degrade because of battery chemistry) and instead you're forced to pay them for repairs (like the way you're forced to with apple cause they seal everything in) or even better for them, pay an exorbinant amount for their new flagship next year. See, I don't actually have a problem with the back cover being hard to take off because the battery popped it off for me already...when it swelled up due to being on my wireless charger all the time. Reason I had to use a wireless one was because Samsung made the charging port oversensitive to moisture, so even when there isn't even any there, it still gives me a notification that there is and won't let me use it. So I was forced to use a wireless one, and then, well, THIS happened. So it was either not use my phone at all because I can't charge it, or blow up the battery on a wireless charger. Hopefully when the new battery comes in from Amazon, it'll work and be easy to swap out. I bought two, just in case something like this happens again. Usually after 2 years of very average phone use you would get a big drop off on battery power. I'll probably change mine after a year and a bit though

5:23 not sure what is the point of removing this part (and unscrewing) since the battery can be replaced without touching this part. Otherwise, a very helpful video that helped me to change the battery. Thanks!

If I had seen this video before ordering the battery, I would have changed my mind. Getting the battery out was hard because the kit I had sent a metal prying tool and I was afraid to use it. Once I did the battery came out without a lot of force. Also, those screws are tiny, and my hands and eyes were not happy.

Should I put adhesive in front of the battery so it stays in place? I think thats what messed up the original battery it kept dropping to 0% and restarting even if I keep it on the charger .. thanks ..

How long do you recommend leaving the phone on the hot plate at 100 degrees celcius for? Also the second part where you need to re-apply heat the screen to separate the battery adhesive, how long did you leave it on there? "once you feel the battery hot enough" isn't really a good enough considering how you're risking damaging the device. Finally where do you find new adhesive to apply to the fram of the phone to preserve waterproofing? @Serg Tech, please reply, i've seen others ask similar things and you have not responded.

Replaced a battery using your video. Hardest part was to wait for battery to charge to 100 before turning the phone on, to see if it works. So far so good. I used a wide pot of water with a plate over it. For 5 min. The whole case opened up right away.

Nobody sells these yet (August 2019), at least nobody i can find in the USA - I assume the aftermarket battery vendors still need more time to start making them. And seeing how the phone model has only been sold since June they probably don't even have much demand for replacement batteries just yet. If we change our batteries ourselves now, we'd void the warranty.
