Thanks for the excellent video. The WF sensor in my neighbor's 2011 Yukon went out so I got on youtube and came across several videos but yours was the most helpful. Fortunately I didn't have to remove the battery tray or the wheel. Instead I turned the wheel hard right and removed the 4 or 5 plastic push-in screws and the (2) 7mm screws that hold the fender liner in place, peeled it back a little and right there it was. I had all the access I needed to the washer fluid sensor. I disconnected the power source to sensor and pulled it out, popped in the new one and added just enough fluid to get the sensor's float mechanism to float and watch the "low washer fluid light" go out and then I closed everything back up, finished filling the bottle and all done. Thanks again for such a clear and concise video. Oh yeah, sorry for my long winded comment.

so you removed the level sensor and reinstalled the same one back in? or the one you installed was a new one? you did not mention on the video..

TO PEOPLE WHO JUST NEED SENSOR REPLACED. So I just did this job. Here’s what I’ll tell you to help. I did mine on a 2011 Silverado. All are same (07-13 yukon, Tahoe, sierra, Silverado) here’s how I did it. I did not pull tank out. I took the bolts off the inner plastic fender. Pulled it back as done in video. Then I locate the sensor. It is located in the middle of the tank. Unplug the one wire and yank it out. I then replaced with a AC delco sensor. Trust me take the new gasket and shove it in the oem one ON THE SENSOR. do not try to put the gasket in the tank first. Take them out put it on the sensor as one piece and then put it in. It is a pain but not too bad. After that plug in wire and fill it up with washer fluid check for leaks. Then put the plastic fender back on and bang! No warning code on the dash. I didn’t do this extra stuff like takin tire or battery tray off. That is unnecessary. This method worked for me hope it helps.

I kinda did the same thing. I did however unbolt the battery tray and the tank, rotated the tank in place so i could access the sensor. Pulled the old one out and put the new gasket on first, then the sensor, as I was unable to put both in the hole at the same time. Also siphon your tank first!

Thanks for the video. My fluid sensor went bad and I was able to swap it out easily. I left the tire on.

Fyi, if you wanna get rid of the light until you can replace it, just reach up and unplug it temporarily. It’s a normally closed switch and unplugged it’s “open.”

Thanks for the informative video. I used a fluid transfer pump to remove the stinky water from the washer tank and I think I knocked the float off. Now I know how to fix it . Sweet video 🤙👍

Great instructions! My 2012 Silverado 2500hd has the same steps but takes a GM 20999338 16mm which has the discontinued number 25993595 on it! The GM dealer said it was a 22845370 and it’s 28 mm WRONG!

Can I short electric connect washer fluid on bad sensor wires together? Would that turn off the low washer fluid message?

Hi, my tank where what looks like a drain plug is leaking. I assume I need to replace the whole tank correct? Also, How do I know if the pump is working or not? 2009 GMC Sierra Crew Cab

Dear Chevy, this level sensor is useless and causes unnecessary maintenance. Do I really need a warning that the fluid is low? Kinda obvious. Would rather have sensors to tell me lights, tail, brake, head are out for which you can get a ticket

And then there is the TPMS which if not relearned after a tire repair or rotation is inaccurate at best yet a super annoyance to have to manage and is no better than the ideal of another idiot light used to tell me I have a light out. Let's stop with the useless warnings and indicators altogether. All they are is maintenance issues waiting to occur. You want to know if your lights are working properly, get out and walk around the vehicle and check your tires while your at it...

What If i just tie the float so it’s always up so my stupid light won’t keep turning on?

Because its easier to replace the sensor than it would to try to rig some type of sling which will only address a mechanical issue and not an electrical one if that is the cause. It takes longer to remove the inner well then it does to remove the electrical plug and sensor.

Why do you have to replace the tank to replace the fluid level sensor?
@1AAuto
4 жыл бұрын
+Weathermann Ax Thank you for cheeking us out! You do not have to replace the tank if the only issue is he level sensor, you can just replace the sensor. We just so happen to have gotten a replacement as it needed to be changed at the same time. 1aauto.com

Yeah but it pops up on the screen every time you turn the truck on or shift it into park, then drive. Once you press the button to clear it 5,000 times, you get sick and tired of it.

You don't have to remove the fender liner. I removed my wife's 08 Sub washer reservoir this morning.

Do you really need to remove the whole tank? It looks like you can take all the bolts out and just rotate the tank, disconnect the wires to the sensor and pull the sensor without removing the whole nine yards. Don't know if anyone has tried doing it that way or not. Don't see why you wouldn't be able to. Let me know if anyone has tried that and if it worked. Thanks!

So, I unbolted the tank after removing the extra battery tray. Takes about 2 minutes. Then rotaed the tank just a tad while it was in place and easily unplugged and removed the old sensor (after siphoning the old fluid out into a bucket) and put the new grommet on, and put the new sensor back in. Easy peasy. Do not remove the tire.

Just leave that stupid Float in there it won't hurt nothing. Or when Its full maybe it will float to the top and you can pull it out through the fill opening.

@@jamesadams7131 I had quite a snicker at that one too. Went through the trouble of removing the battery, tray and container and had it in his hand while turning container 90 degrees to the ground. Should have continued another 90 and would have easily slid out the filler hole.

Good Ol’ GM adding more and more useless sensors to suck every penny out of your wallet, because people are too lazy pop the hood and look over their vehicles before they drive them.
