Hi Everyone, Sorry for no videos in almost a week I went on a quick family trip and was unable to film anything. A lot of people asked about how I resin such large canvases so I decided to make a video. Let me know what you think!

I've heard others say that they put a thin layer of resin on the backside of the canvas, allow that to cure, then resin the front, just to make sure it won't sag....

Very helpful thank you. Re metal scraper, i bought a plastic /silicone shower glass cleaner from a kitchen shop which i will try on my next smaller resin piece in the hope of getting good coverage? I have been unsuccessful using resin and ruined 5 nice pieces so far, going to try sanding and resin again.

Great tutorial, thanks Devin. I have a 24x60 canvas that I want to resin after my pour. I live in an apartment with little space so I purchased PVC pipes to setup on both sides of my table, where I will drape a clean plastic sheet over the pipes to prevent the resin from picking up any particles. Wish me luck. Lol

Thanks a lot 😊 would have been nice to see how you apply the resin on the side's off your canvas. How do you protect your canvas after you applied the resin,from dust? Do you apply the varnish the same way, or do you use a brush? Some how I have always brush marks in my varnish.
@DevinsArtistry

Thank you for your comment, as to protect it sadly the only think I can do it do it in an unused section of the house they are just to large to cover. As for varnish I will always brush on thin coats but I do always end up with small brush marks no matter what I do.

Thanks for the video. I was concerned about using resin on a large canvas, but mine is not nearly as large as yours. Two questions, though. Do you cover the canvas after you resin it and if you need a second coat, when do you add the second coat and do you do any kind of prepping before the second coat? Thanks!

On large canvas I rarely get away with a single coat always something wrong somewhere, so give it a light sand clean the canvas well and spread another thin layer of resin and your finish will be perfect!

Your video was informative. I did 2 12x24 canvases. This was my first time using resin. I used the Resin calculator to see how much resin to use which was10oz. After I finished them, the next morning was a disaster. I didn't add or attach any backing to the back of the painting. Didn't know I had to. The resin ran kinda in the middle and I had divets and dents along the sides of the painting. The resin ran off the edges a little too. It was terrible. I want to try to salvage the paintings. Any suggestions on how to fix them?😒
@DevinsArtistry
2 жыл бұрын
That does happen if there is no middle support the resin can be very heavy. Now that it is dry give it a light sand clean it well and pour a thin light coat on top, since the middle is thicker the canvas should now be level and the sanding will allow it to bond to each other.
