I think it might be important to clarify that from a technical perspective hexidecimal is just a way of representing numbers. This is important when you realise that commonly its the 8bit RGB values that are encoded in HEX which are commonly referred to simply as HEX. Its possible to write any numbers in hexadecimal, such as HSV, CYMK, the number of cats in the world, a computer memory address, etc. Don't assume that a value in HEX therefore always relates to colour. Standards do usually denote an RGB hex color by starting it with a #, but this is not always adhered to.
