Yes! I'm a Texan, and my mom's Frito Pie was one of our favorite meals. A layer of Fritos in a casserole dish, a layer of chili, top with shredded cheese, bake till bubbly. We were picky kids, so she left the onions out. We sold it at the concession stand at ball games, just like Jordan makes it - open a small bag of Fritos, put in a scoop of chili and some cheese, stick a spoon in it and go. Such nostalgia and homesickness! Oooh, the feels!

Butter acts as a fat barrier (so does peanut butter), so even if there is condiments on it, put butter on first. It prevents the bread from turning into mush because from mustard or mayo/miracle whip. Its pretty nifty! I always make my on cake and I will freeze slices and eat it when I want a treat. But I have a chest freezer so that helps. I do love all the other ideas you shared. Cake pops I will have to try. I usually slice the cake, put in the freezer to get hard (so no mushy icing), then wrap in foil and put all in a large zip lock bag. Then we can pull a slice out and let it thaw at room temp when we need a dessert. Roasted veggies r the bomb!

You can use the meat and cheese in casseroles of any kind! Just chop it up smaller and put it in with pasta or potatoes for super fast and easy -and cheap!- meal! i always put a few eggs together with a bit of milk, mix it up and pour it over the pasta or raw potato slices i stacked into the casserole dish with the meat and cheese and than just bake it until done (between 20 to 40 minutes on medium or less on high if you are really in a hurry)! You can also put some of those veggies in there to make it even more filling and healthy :) Also for veggies and meat and cheese, make pot pies or shepherd pies, just as simple :)

Also.. sandwich size portions of meats/cheeses frozen separately in sandwich/snack size bags works perfectly. They take little room & thaw quickly. Even if u forget at night by the time the oatmeal or eggs are done your meats/cheeses are ready. Make your own antipasto salad. You could dice 'em and toss in skillet still frozen for scrambles/ omelets/frittatas/mac+ch (ham esp)/and add some of the veggies too. My sis-inlaw made a "hogie dip" or spread. Make some grilled cheese+meat or melts Monte Cristo/ Croque Madame....sorry for the never ending comment but the options are endless ~ Been reinventing "re-runs" as we call it more than 30 years lol I just found your channel and I love how your brain works. I get nostalgic for that magical time as stay at home mom...with ever evolving tech and ability to watch someone half a world away make vegan "crabcakes" or vegan shepherd's pie I'm fascinated by the things you young moms come up with and sometimes I laugh remembering when I did it.😊

I would pretty much do the same. Desserts wise maybe a trifle or serve with tinned/fresh fruit. But cake pops sounds cool since they can be frozen in time. I think after seeing this it made me mindful of selecting stuff that can be repurposed if left overs. Probably a key thing ! Awesome videos. Love hacks and being frugal and your videos..

FYI- you can freeze the tomatoes. If you get enough of them, you can throw them in a pot and make your own marinara/spaghetti sauce. I did this when a farmer in our church gave us their excess tomatoes. Doesn’t alter the taste at all. You could also chop and freeze to use in place of canned diced tomatoes in cooking. Hope this helped. Blessings to you and yours!

Thanks for the tip! I never knew you could freeze tomatoes, since they have such a high water content, I always figured it would change their texture. But I suppose they would be fine for soups and sauces.

For some reason having a teenage boy and his friends means we don’t have a lot of leftovers, however when we do I always freeze what we can for school lunches. Potato chips as a crumb are a great idea!
