Do I need to have speakers plugged into the record player in order for me to hear it? I have a plx-500-k with some good speakers but when I wanna rip some vinyl the computer's in the other room and I don't want to have to lug the turntable and speakers back and forth. Is there anyway I can make the output the computer speakers? thank you

That's what I did with all my music before I moved back to my house to continue studying with ou guys! All my CDs & vinyl got transferred to my laptop! Less hassle! Not as impressive as watching a wall full of them but for practicality, it wins!

Isn´t working out for me. I have a Denon record player with RCA Phono output and I have tried to connect it up to my laptop using the 3.5 jack audio input (I have an adapter but no usb adapter), I have also tried to connect the record player up through my Vestax VCI-400 controller and through the usb to my laptop and no luck there either. Should I get a usb adapter? Which way is able to keep the quality of the music? Directly through USB or through a controller? Thanks!
@digitaldjtips
7 жыл бұрын
Does the Vestax have phono inputs? From looking at it, I'm not sure it does. You will need to buy some sort of interface, so that depends on your budget. The cheapest solution would be the Behringer UCA-222. I have one and it's so simple to use. :-)

Hi! First of all, let me tell u that your channel is very helpful.So...I would like to explain an issue I have recently noticed while I'm ripping my vinyls with Rekordbox.My stuff consists in a Pioneer DJM850 mixer (and 2 cdjs850, not relevating) and a brand new Pioneer PLX500 turntable, which I use to digitalize vinyls.I have tried all connection ways (turntable-pc via usb, and turntable-mixer-pc with mixer's usb) and I have obtained the same results...One channel, concretly left, sounds a little bit louder than right one...as I can see in your video when u shows rekordbox screen while recording, note that the signal provided for both channels is not the same...Is it really a problem or is my brain playing tricks on me????After ripping, I use Audacity in order to see the detailed waveform and convert the file into mp3 320 to use with cdjs...and here is the point where I feel annoyed and sad...because as I said before...the left channel waveform is "bigger" than right...not so much...+1db more or less...but enough to drive me in this way...This thing happens setting the mixer in "stereo mode"...in "mono" it doesn't happen...but not same sound for me...and for everybody I suposse...I also tried to change RCA connections and the problem came to the opossite channel...Please...somebody help me or give me some advices or ideas about this...
@digitaldjtips
6 жыл бұрын
Hey, glad you're liking the channel! It could be an issue with your turntable's needle, cartridge, or cables :) maybe one of the mixer channels are also faulty? Worth looking into one of those as a possible fault
@ElEdyx

Thanks a lot for your answer. The turntable is completely new...same for the mixer (6 months) I made different tests connecting it to channels one and four (which have phono imputs)...changing the poors rca cables that plx has included...and same results...

Hi there, I'm using a PLX-500 connected to a preamp with phonos, and then connected to DDJ-RX's. I've managed to get it to record, however the sound is really distorted. Any ideas about why this might be? Cheers
@digitaldjtips
4 жыл бұрын
Could be because you switched the PLX-500 to "Line" output, but when you plugged it into the DDJ-RX's inputs you have "Phono" selected :) Check your PLX-500: the switch should be set to "Phono" and then check your DDJ-RX's inputs and make sure they are set to Phono as well.

8:55 Input level is too high. That's what the little knob at 12 o'clock to the left of the meters are for. You can see the clipped tops of the peaks when the recorded track is dragged up to the player. Other than that, good tutorial.

Agreed, but some folks like the option of digitising rare pieces that they may have from a long way back :) Rekordbox has that option at least. But I hear you - didn't enjoy transferring tapes and CDs to miniDisc either (remember those? Man that was tiring!) - Joey
