Hi Pete. So you are sanding polyester primer with 80g. Did you have to spray on epoxy primer over the metal first?? On the low spot you were referring to how would you fix that?? Would you just rough up it up more with 40g then put on a layer of bonds or layers of bonds? Then spray another coat or 2 or 3 coats of featherfill, and at the end of sanding all of the polyester filler, spray on 2k sand and then base/ clear? Or instead of 2k just spray on a coat of epoxy primer/ sealer then base/ clear? Thanks for all do :) much appreciated

@@richreece8840 Pete convinced me to get the Dura-Block and they definitely have their place. They do a good job on curved surfaces and spot repairs. Not a bad tool for woodwork as well. Pete also taught me how to clean off the uneven buildup of feathering adhesive with lacquer thinner and 80 grit paper. The man is a blessing, he helps mediocre DIYers improve their results. Those body files won't let any mistakes slip by. When budget allows those are next on my list.

There is no such thing as a Colonel in the Navy. An O-6 full bird is a Captain in the Navy where as an O-6 full bird in the Marines and in the Army is a Colonel. The rank of Colonel does not exist in our Navy. I know as I was in the Men's Department of the Navy, which would be the US Marines

The R&H "Bodyman" Sander is still made and sold starting at $28 & up, at 17" with the same 3 handle shapes shown as used by Pete. They have others but the popular two long file for clip on or PSA and the shorter version as well! I am not sure of Hutchinson at this time. Very, very nice job Pete. I know this car came out beautiful using those sanding files & your technique. Wonderful. DK.

The way that many, companies get started is by someone that is working on a project, and while working on the project they say ,or think to themselves, there must be a better,and quicker way to do this task.And ,so, they come up with a idea for a tool that will accomplish the task much easier,and fasterr, at the same time .and thus a tool or product is born.

Awesome info!. I too have the Dura Block set, and you're right. It has its place, but it is harder to get straight panels on hoods, trunks, and such. Definitely will look into the other sanding files. Thanks!

Hi Pete. Thanks for all your hard work on this channel. We enjoy watching and learning. I think you should have your own show on MotorTrend or something. Better than 80% crap shows on there now! Im passionate about auto body also and I think you are a good dude. God bless you and yours! Good luck in 2023. Keep up the good work my friend. Joe in south central PA.

Durablock doesn't show the imperfections like the acrylic (more rigid) block sanders do. I'm not sure that matters if you are doing a commercial job but it seems to make a difference in the finish if you are searching for a show car finish.

I would like to see hammer and dolly work maybe with the harbor freight set doing a review and informational in one.

I have that set and found that most of the dollys aren’t very useful and every hammer in the set has a dead flat face that you’d have to grind into a little bit more of a spherical shape to do any real body work

What do you do about the high spots?
@DonariaRegia
Жыл бұрын
If the spot is too high the metal is stretched and needs hammer and dolly work. You can work in a circular pattern from the outside to the middle to shrink the metal. The spot Pete showed might blend in with another coat of primer. If you plan to shrink a high spot for the first time, practice on scrap metal first. If you can't fit a dolly behind the spot it makes shrinking more difficult and may result in a low spot if the hammer is used too aggressively. It's always best to have something behind the area that matches the contours of the panel.
