Living in the tropics that too along the coastline can make us face many new challenges..one such is thunderstorm and rain without any warning..and when this happens some or the other orchid gets affected due to it.
Vandas especially due to their upright growing habit tend to accumulate water in between the leaves and on the crown that leads to rot and infection.
In this video I jave shown how rot in Vandas look like.Rot of this sort could either be bacterial or fungal.(Erwinia or phytophthora species).
I treat my vandas without using any toxic fungicides by aggressively removing affected tissue and by spraying Hydrogen peroxide thoroughly and applying powdered cinnamon on the soft spots and on the cut ends..check out the video for more details.
