This might sound funny but why Garry Potter and not the "h" equivalent "х" for phonetic Харри?
@ИльяИванов-р6ф2л
5 жыл бұрын
Just 'cause in Russian language "Харри" sounds less legible. what about names. We Adapted for us. Helmut -Гельмут Heinrich - Генрих Homer - Гомер(sounds like "Гамэр") Himalayas - Гималаи That's sound loud. It haven't a lot of differenсes. G in Russian like (Джи). (We have a rule about "жи" and "ши" sounds like "шы" и "жы") But we use Germany - Германия, not like English "Джермани" We have a lot of rules to write words. Rules often have exceptions. It is hard for children, when they study at school.

@wathwolfy
5 жыл бұрын
"С ума" It means that you got cranky, but It is not full sentence. it's just "mind", if you use "ум" of course. (You wrote "Сума" but right is "Сумма") "Сумма" It means "sum". I hope you got it.
@AKWoland
4 жыл бұрын
@@wathwolfy "Сума" word is exists too. It's old form of word "Сумка" and means a bag. Sometimes you can see this word in some old-style texts or some kind of poetries and songs and also in idioms like "От тюрьмы до сумы не зарекайся" (i can't translate it correctly)

I didn't understand that how Harry's pronunciation changed in Gerry. Do Russians change name's pronunciation too according to their speaking method or because it is difficult for them to pronounce. In India indians also do this. So please help me understand this. Thank you.
@RealRussianClub
7 жыл бұрын
it's not because of pronunciation, we can easily say Харри or Хэрри. But it's a historically formed rule, that h turns to г in the Russian language. Гарри, Генри, Голландия, Гамбург and so on. There are several exceptions of course. Also names often sound differently: Elizabeth is Елизавета, for example

Miss Dasha, is this correct? "Давай, товарищ!"
@AKWoland
4 жыл бұрын
"Товарищ" word is never using in informal Russian in means "Comrade". It is only using in army only with rank to person, whom higher by rank than you, like "товарищ лейтенант, разрешите обратиться!" - "can i speak, sir (lieutenant)?, ". In spoken language it word sometimes can be used in another meaning - friend "Андрей - мой товарищ" is same as "Andrey is my friend". And one more using for this word is meaning "person" but with some ironic, usually if you wanna say something bad about this persone. For example "этот товарищ постоянно срывает сроки" - "this person is failing deadlines all the time"

Because there was a time it was Harry Potter everywhere. People were talking about nothing but Harry Potter. And I could not understand why people liked it so much : a simple story about some wizzard. The reason I like you is you are making great video's about Russian language and Russia in general. Learning Russian illuminates my mind :-) And you are way cooler than Harry Potter :P

You should probably add that with the Мне нравится phrase, the thing you like should be in the nominative case (кто-то/что-то, it doesn't change), but with the Я люблю phrase, the thing you like has to be in the accusative case (кого-то/что-то, and что-то is also changed with female singular nouns)

Why could you not use a variety of words instead of "Harry Potter". It is useful to learn as many words in Russian as possible. But all you used to describe"like" is "Harry "Potter". Couldn't you think of anything YOU like or something someone in general commonly likes? e.g. dogs, exercising, learning Russian, making friends, socializing, etc. It is a disservice to use one word repeatedly, especially a useless word like "Harry Potter".
