Screaming live vs. at home, VERY different! This is important for people at all levels, and something even I'm working on right now to prep for our EP release headline show this month. Learn much more about how to manage you voice and yourself live and on tour with our sections all about this in our EVI Now program!

I struggle with this a lot, even during rehearsals. When im tapped, I'll accidentally LITERALLY scream sometimes and have to stop. Its delicate balance haha

Another thing that will make a big difference is practice screaming on a treadmill or while running. It'll make you pay attention to your stamina, teach you to not sprint a marathon, and keep your body used to activity. You can also just choreograph your setlist, and that way, your actions AND screams are 2nd nature 🙂

Little unrelated to the video but since I'm early just wanted to say your videos have helped me from going from 0 vocal knowledge to being lead singer of a metal band thank you for doing these

I practice at work lol. My coworkers 😅 think I'm strange but a few of them like it. Some think I'm possessed. Lol. I work in a big warehouse so I'm usually alone most of the time.

So so so true. Every time I perform, my voice feels more tired, and I know it's cause I exerted myself without realizing it.

I love how you are very composed person and you explaining everything clearly. I progress just doing few exercise and playing around almost quietly at home. I can explode now when I do my scream for real 100%. I almost acheive a bashee scream in my car last day.

This was a problem for me during my band's first big tour a couple years back. The first week was definitely a struggle, but thankfully I learned to relax a bit and take it easier while on stage so the rest of the tour went pretty smoothly.

I am capable of making fry and false chord sounds just using mindless single notes that don't really take much effort but when I try to apply to to singing with distortion I lose the technique. How do I fix this?

An interesting way Joakim Broden put it (I believe on an interview with Charismatic Voice) is like, going 100% every night isn't sustainable, so it's far better to perform at 80%. At home, practice so that your current 60% starts to feel like 50%, then make your 70% feel like the new 60% did, so on... or something to that effect. Better to work on your crappy/tired days feeling and sounding better than try to constantly push that ceiling higher and push that effort harder every show.

When I was in a band I could play up to three nights in a row singing pretty much new metal mudvayne five finger death Punch type stuff without blowing my voice out.. I haven't been in a band in so long that I would go horse after two songs now. I used to have a 4 octave range but for some reason I'm over 40 and I can't hit my highs like I used to. I used to be able to hit Rob halford high notes and now I can't even get close to it so I'm kind of depressed that my high range is gone

Its better to perform at 75% for 3 hours, than it is 100% for 3 songs and the rest is a struggle to even give 50%

i used to practice screaming and i got good at it. i got so good at it that i could talk in falsechord without being super loud, (no i dont mean vocal fry i mean dying fetus type falsechord voice and it did not take any energie to produce the noise. but it became boring and i got intressed in clean vocals, so have completly lost the technuiqe 😂
