Have been using skull drills for a few weeks and really struggled wjth breathing. Today I used a snorkel and found the experience much more enjoyable and was really able to focus on the skulling.

As an artistic (synchronized) swimmer our workouts always include sculling as it’s an essential part of our technique for figures. Some of these exercises are new to me though, can’t wait to try them.

I started sculling in my sets more out of boredom and just wanting to do something different. It was initially just to break the boredom, but honestly it's strengthen and conditioned way more than just me plodding up and down and it's a fun break. It's a great technique to practice whether your new or seasoned.

When I do these drills I typically kick very slightly to help my balance in the water. But typically in the rhythm of my arm motion. Wonderful explanation.

Since day one of doing this drill, I renamed it. The Mr.Miyagi drill 😅 love it, best drill to get the feel for the water. Great video Mark

Try as I may, I can't find any practical use for sculling. We do use it for treading water. Maybe a little of it in breast stroke, but none of the other strokes use it. I guess if you are having real problems getting the 'feel' of the water, then it might help.

I have been stuck at 1:40/100 for about a year. Im dreading trying this in the pool. I think it will look like I'm drowning. lol I really hope it helps
