Thank you so much for posting this video. There is such a negative stigma in this space regarding "part-time" agents. I've been part time for 2yrs now. I'm in a little different position, in that I like my "day job" and have no desire to quit. However, there's such an opportunity in the insurance space to either make some extra money or potentially a 2nd or 3rd income when done correctly. This year I've done a little over 50k, and my margins are right at 38%. Clearly, I'm not at the top of any leader boards but the extra money is fantastic. I hold licenses in several states to leverage the time I'm available to work, and I'm 100% tele-sales. Set a schedule and absolutely stick to it. It's very easy as a part-time agent to have a full day at work then ride the struggle bus when you get home and need to work the insurance business. Having a good team or network of other agents is a huge help as well.

Part time agent here for 12 months. Buying own leads. The BIGGEST challenge is the cancellation/charge back rate of 30%. And also many weeks at a time of no or few sales. So far, I’m under water on costs vs income by quite a bit. My other job makes up the difference thankfully, but this is not for the faint of heart. I put in 20 hours per week, buy my own leads and do telesales final expense.

If you don't mind me asking, what kind of leads are you buying? I've definitely gone a week without a sale but not weeks. I'm contracted with 2 IMO's and purchase leads from both of their lead platforms, I also buy leads from "outside" vendors. Costs range from $14-$50 per lead. My goal is a 20% conversion (20 leads= 4 clients) that percentage drops with the cheaper leads though. Chargebacks are absolutely a dirty word, but I have found keeping communication with them up to the initial draft day and beyond has helped me quite a bit. I try to get the initial to happen upon approval or within a few days as it seemed like most that wanted a draft date a few weeks out were much more likely to cancel. You're right though, this isn't easy.

@@DiabloPolloI can only imagine what a 20% conversion rate would be like. I’m nowhere near that. I tried this on a full time basis at the beginning of the year and the rate of cancellation and charge backs literally knocked the wind out of my sails. Back to parttime. Wasted money on fb ads for a few months too. I finally have a few lead vendors that I pay between 12-22 dollars per lead. FEX and IUL plus CRM and other services that I don’t even break even on. The facts are embarrassing and the struggle is real.

My dad is a Medicare agent and has over 800 clients. With the exception of AEP he works maybe 15-20 hours a week and makes more than enough money to live comfortably.

Is part time still 30 hours per week and face to face only?

No, we take part-timers for telesales. I wouldn't apply if you can't do at least 15 to 20 hours weekly on the phone.
