I feel that crypto can be very confusing! You're transferring crypto over the blockchain, which is a publicly run system (not internal like moving money from your bank's checking to savings account). In order to compensate people running the network, they're incentivized with a fee on each transaction - think of it like how we're taxed on every day things to help keep our government running. Hope that helps!

Great video Adam! Question, why do you send USD C to your Ethereum 2 wallet, instead of Ethereum?? (I’m a noob so your help is much appreciated)

Thank you Anthony, great question! So you can send any ERC-20 token to your ETH wallet, and USDC is one of those tokens (as most other tokens are like SHIB, LINK, etc). Hope that makes sense!

Hi Adam thank you for your videos. Just a question in min 6:40 you are putting your ethereum address, which you are putting into coin base to send usdc… my question is will that address work for ANY erc-20 token? Say you have hex in your coin base and you want to store it in your nano will you do the SAME ethereum address? Just a bit confused thanks man
@adamventure
Жыл бұрын
You're welcome, glad they're helpful! Yes that's correct - your ETH address will work for any ERC-20 token (which is the vast majority of what Coinbase offers). It should work for HEX as well - heads up some ERC-20 tokens might not show up in Ledger Live, but rest assured they are actually in your wallet on the blockchain (you can use MetaMask or something to access them)

Your crypto isn't totally locked away, you can still use them with defi like staking. If you are already staked on a different wallet, you'll need to unstake, send to the Ledger address, and restake it

From the pinned comment - "Getting a lot of questions about the network fees: yeah it seems bad, but it's actually a flat fee. So I could have sent $1 or $1,000,000 and it would have cost the same $3 or $5." As for your question, your best option is to use an exchange that covers network fees in some way. My favorite one currently is FTX/FTX.US

You can absolutely consolidate everything onto 1 Ledger! If you wanted to still have "individual" holdings, you could even have separate addresses on the same device & seed phrase - one for you and one for your wife. Just depends on what you want to do!

@@adamventure I have a different question about fees. I thought every single time I move cryto out of an exchange to a cold wallet, I would need to pay gas fees and /or a percentage of whatever I am sending. @adamventure

@@ashley1400 some exchanges charge less in fees like FTX covers half, and the network fees themselves can vary a lot ($3 vs $5 in a ~20 minute span as you saw in the video). But generally yes that's correct

I've been waiting 1/2 hour and it looks like I just lost everything I tried to send to Ledger from VirgoCX. I need to find a video that shows me how to send crypto from an EXCHANGE to Ledger, not how to do it internally.
@adamventure
2 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear that Susan, but Coinbase is an external exchange that sends it officially over the blockchain. Sometimes these smaller exchanges take a while (like 1-3 days) to actually send crypto out over the blockchain, make sure they have it labeled as "sent" or "completed", not "pending". EDIT: also ALWAYS send a small test transaction like I showed in the video, can never be too safe
@Susan.Lewis.

Hey Mohamed thank you for the kind words! I'm glad everything makes sense to folks who aren't mainly English speakers. Yes that is possible, but not directly to your bank. You'll need to go thru an exchange like Coinbase to convert/sell your USDT to USD (or your country's currency) and then transfer that to your bank. I actually made a video on this process, using BTC and Coinbase as an example. Just do the same thing for USDT, sell it, and transfer to your bank: kzitem.info/news/bejne/1XlptpuasGmLoWk

Yes you can use this device with an Anrdoid. Depends on the port your phone has but its typically micro USB or USB-C, so you might need an adapter for the cable that comes with the Ledger. There is an app for Cronos, might be called "CRO" or "Crypto.org chain"

Sounds like you chose to withdraw ETH on the Polygon network instead of the ETH network (probably because it has lower fees). You can just send it back to Coinbase on the Polygon network, then send it to the ETH address on your Ledger on the ETH network
