Remember this: Their emergency is NOT your emergency.

Yes! Lack of planning on your part doesn't make an emergency on my part. People are responsible for themselves! I'm glad you enjoyed the video.

My favorite passive aggressive comment that I often get is “well you’re not doing anything anyway!” Maybe I’m not doing anything but that doesn’t mean I’m obligated to do something that you want me to do if I don’t want to do it! Then I’m evil, mean, selfish, inconsiderate, and so on! 😐 Ok then, if I’m all these things then why would ask me in the first place? 🤨 (Then tries talking sweet and polite) Do you think you could please do this for me? _____said she would help you (no prior conversation with that person!) and I can order us pizza or something. I said I can’t! But… Goodbye! (Hang up) 5 minutes later phone rings again. I don’t answer. Leaves a voicemail. 5 minutes after that calls again and leaves a message pouting about it. Another 10 minutes and another voicemail having a tantrum. An hour later another voicemail fake apology trying to manipulate. 20 minutes later another voicemail having a tantrum again! One time I had 47 calls/voicemails! I didn’t listen to the voicemails because I knew exactly what it would be and I’m not wasting my time listening to a grown adult throwing tantrums! One time she came over to my house ringing the doorbell and knocking loudly and yelling I know you’re in there! I didn’t answer the door. I was busy! Next day manipulates another relative to use their phone to call me! “I’m family! Family is supposed to help each other!” Ok then help me by stopping this insane behavior! You have the audacity to call me immature because I won’t do something that I don’t want to do but it’s perfectly mature and normal to behave the way you are? 🤨 I’m busy. Goodbye! “Wait don’t hang up…” Click! 👋 Then complain to my mom until she calls and asks me to just do it because she doesn’t need the aggravation of being nagged at about how I won’t do something. Tell her that I am an adult and you are not responsible nor in control of what I do or don’t do. I’m not playing these games anymore. I’m not getting sucked back into the manipulative drama. You can either play the game and keep the drama going or you can tell her no and stand firm in that. Either way I’m not playing this game anymore! From now on I’m only going to say no once and it’s not a negotiation! It’s end of conversation! Leave me a million voicemails and it’s still no and I block whoever’s number because I’m not playing this game anymore! The only way for me to win is to not play! So I’m not playing! Goodbye! 3 hours later…phone rings…block the number! Someone else calls a few minutes later…block number! I said no. No means no! This behavior is emotional rape! I told my family that before. You are trying to force me to do something that I don’t want to do and trying to manipulate my feelings to get your way! What would you call it? 🤨

Yes, setting limits is hard and dealing with the response is the hardest part, I think. I'm glad this was a help.

Excellent advice. I started doing this a year ago. It was liberating closet clear out of whiny crappy people. It made room for better people in my life. Win win!

Thanks for the feedback. It's sometimes hard to tell when I'm editing how loud the music is going to be in the background for the upload. I hope you were able to enjoy it and get something from it despite the music. Peace!

I have no problem saying no. But, that doesn’t help me get my gas turned on since I’ve had no hot water for 2 days. Do you have hot water?

Why is it so hard to say no when our whole life has been filled being told no. Rejection is part of life, but you can't reject the respect.😊😊

@@drdr1957 You opened up a can of worms asking why It's so hard. 🙂 The great thing about the broken record method is that it works regardless of why it's hard to say no.
