I’m truly admire you properly educating the public about these guys. So many people accidentally dehydrate them or other common mistakes. Question: what’s the longest you’ve heard a chameleon to live? I hear females have shorter lifespans due to laying
@NeptunetheChameleon
3 жыл бұрын
I think the longest I’ve heard is 12 years for a panther chameleon. Females have the reputation of not living as long because people don’t care take care of them properly and then they end up laying more eggs than they should. I think if you take care of them correctly and help decrease the number of eggs they lay, they should be able to live just as long as males.

I was just wondering if you need a 48 inch tall cage because I have seen a lot of information saying that 24 or 30 inches is fine and I just really don’t have space for a 48 inch cage, so what do you recommend
@NeptunetheChameleon
2 жыл бұрын
Yes you really need a 48" tall cage. The other size option would be a 36"x18"x36". Any smaller would be considered inhumane and would not provide the correct gradients in temperature and UVB.

I recently bought your Neptune the Chameleon Kit from Pangea. Today I was setting up the lighting. The bulb that came with my kit is a 50W. I do have a temp gun like you have in this video. My basking temps range in the 84-89 range. I have raised the heat lamp up 3” off of the top of the enclosure and the basking branch is 8” below the top. I keep adjusting the lamp trying to get the temps between 80-85F. With it being a 50W instead of 75W I didn’t think it would be as strong. Besides hanging the heat lamp from my ceiling (my enclosure is super elevated off the ground) I don’t know what to do. Is this a typical problem?

Hello and thank you for your videos! If it weren't for you my female wouldn't be able to make it. I just adopted her from a previous owner that didn't care at all. I have a big problem tho and I don't have anyone to help me. The previous owner didn't even know that she will have to lay eggs. I live on a small island and the bigger terrarium that I found was 45cmx45cmx45cm. I made her an egg laying bin with reptile sand and organic pottery soil, and I added a ficus plant and a pathos plant along with some branches and some fake vines. I will surely get her a taller terrarium, but would this do for a few months? I have to wait for the shipment. If it's unhealthy for her, I will make one myself if I have to. I made a shelf that is 1.20m above the ground and I placed the terrarium on top of it so that se can see that she is somewhere high. I'm worried that I'm not caring for her properly. It's the first time that I have to take care for a chameleon and I'm so worried.

I offer detailed enclosure reviews via one-on-one video calls! You can book one here: neptunethechameleon.simplybook.me/v2/ If none of those dates/times work, just let me know and I’ll open up a new time slot for you :)

I have a question I have a female veiled chameleon and she’s always black and is missing her scales.. I’ve already made a couple changes to her enclosure with a uv lighting, and also her regular lighting I see it a lot of people saying how it can be she needs more plants, she’s stressed or scared and even cold I just wanna know what I can do to have her back to being green if you got any tips your awesome!

So I have the 22" Arcadia 6% bulb with the 24" fixture. My Dragonstrand gets here today and I noticed you use the 36" bulb and run it diagonal. Does the bigger bulb put out more uvb? I've tried to mimic your cage build/Bill Strand's because they seem to work so well!! Really need a solar meter but they're so expensive :( lol

I’ve got an LED bar for my plants but I only have it on for a hours each day, I’ve heard LED can be bad for chameleons eyes. What do you think?

I use the Arcadia Jungle Dawn LED bar for my chameleon enclosures and there have not been any issues.

Hi! Do you have tips for me, I have a complete glass terrarium so I can't drill holes in the bottom. Does the water must evaporate and drains into the plants? Or what do you think I must use for bottom filling or something or just nothing?

I'd suggest making the enclosure bioactive. Here is a good resource: www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/intro-to-bio-activity.2429/
