Very helpful video BUT ... I noticed you skipped a few (probably simple steps) So I followed your video about setting up the fluval 206. I'm having trouble with the nozzle clip part ( It's red and attached where the 2 hoses are) I did everything as you showes but I did happen to notice you had already attached some pieces without description. And sure enough this is the ONLY issue I had trouble with......... Just ask my floor. WATER EVERYWHERE !!!! Can you please direct me to this step ( filter was handed down along with aquarium so no instructions..going by others experiences)

It’s possible that you may need more filtration but it depends on how much money you can spend and the fish waste you’re going to have to deal with.

@HumbertoFishTanks

Can you explain how/ why the water pump?
@TheShonuff888
8 жыл бұрын
well its for a pond on the exterior, In your video you explained that the canister must be below. Obviously my pond is in ground, and wont be able siphon the water up to the canister. I was thinking if I could connect the hose to a water pump and it will pump it to the filter and back into the pond. Its a small pond, so is the water pump necessary?
@HumbertoFishTanks
8 жыл бұрын
+TheShonuff888 wow its pretty interesting, that's a great idea. Well the canister provides better efficiency under the tank. I think it would be best if you add a pump, have you check other option for filtration?
@TheShonuff888
8 жыл бұрын
Humberto Fish Tanks well I used a Api filter where you needed a water pump, to pump the water into the filter. I thought the fluval was just a canister, but I ordered it already online and should be getting it soon. I know it should work but, I figure it would be over kill with a water pump and a filter pump, You seem to know a lot about tank/pump set ups, I wanted a second opinion before I do it.

Cleaning your bio media with chlorine water. WTF man
@HumbertoFishTanks
5 жыл бұрын
Sorry for not being clear in the video, anyway, when the filter bio media is new you wanna rinse everything with tap water. Since the filter is not establish with bacteria, there’s nothing to kill with chlorine water.There’s lots of dust it the ceramic rings, and by all means you don’t want that in the tank.
@Stashmanfpv

I use Seachem "Prime" for chlorinated water. It's safe an entirely effective.

I connected the hoses, one of them was too long so i cut it, bit a piece of it is stuck in the rubber part and is impossible to take it out, it even looks like the plastic hose became bonded with the rubber connector, how is this supposed to come out? Idk if anyone has had this problem, vwry poor design on the hoses, ive been trying to take it out to bad that the rubber part is starting to mess up and its a brand new filter!

I went to the dollar store and bought a plastic basin to set my filter in, just in case it ever leaks for any reason. It also catches any drips when I disconnect the hoses for cleaning purposes. I have a 39 gallon tank and clean my filter only 2-3 times a year! This filter keeps my water sparkling clear and is a breeze to keep clean.

@@HumbertoFishTanks I've had mine for a few years now with no issues, until yesterday. The Aquastop valve is leaking a little bit. I'm going to give it a good cleaning and see if that doesn't take care of the problem.

Oh!! Check the rubber ring things, look if they look teared or dry. This rubber piece need to stay lubricated.
@albertflasher3533

@@HumbertoFishTanks 10-4...the leaking is very minute, but I ordered a new valve assembly and will break the old one down to check it once I have the new one. I have never even cleaned this part and it's four years old this month, I suspect it needs new O-rings and or cleaning and lubing of the o-rings. That's pretty a very good service record in my book!

I was really hoping you were going to show more of the tank, as you should be proud. It's a nice, clean aquarium, without being too busy. How's about some "NEW" pics of the tank? Thank you... does the outlet nozzle go above the water level /at water level or under water level? And if the fish are little (e.g. white cloud mountain minnows) is it better if a spray bar is added? And for their safety sponge is put in the inlet hose? I'm new to all this and am replacing an internal filter as all the little minnows swam inside it then most died inside it...
