Thanks Axminster, this is the single best setup tutorial on the internet. After spending around a week on trying to adjust my new Jet rjd 310hh this helped me to get to a 0,1mm tolerance throughout the entire bed in 45 mins. Thanks again!

Came across this video when looking to set up blades on a diy jointer. Excellent video on how to set up a machine. Big fan of Axminster tools and if I come into some new found wealth will be the first place I go to buy a professional joiner thicknesser. Hears hoping and thanks for video

Great guide. I've set the blades and tables up on my Axminster AW128PT so the planer is perfect. However, the thicknesser does not cut 'square' - one side cuts slightly thicker than the other. Would be great to have a video on how to adjust the thicknesser to produce 'square' cuts.

Fantastic video. It pays off to do these: I’m researching reasonably priced planer thicknessers and this video basically made yours the top contender so far.

These spiral planers are incredible, I have one, a very quiet machine that even my elderly neighbours do not hear to moan about. Just a observation, did anyone else notice when Craig had adjusted the fence side of the infeed table, he kept his hand on the straight edge on the infeed side rather than the outfeed side, there is no surprise that any feeler gauge would slide under a straight edge when held. It can feel very troubling and irritating undoing the lift bolts, turning a mil or two then tightening up over and over again but when it is all completely flat and co-planer, the satisfaction is a huge smile. My best advice is set yourself aside a couple of hours to sort this.

I have the older model and asked if there was an upgrade , but it seems they are so different as not be possible owing to bearing placement.😢 The older models make too much noise and need the blades setting after any catch😢

Can I just say thank you I’m trying to save up for a decent thicknesser planer all I have is a Screwfix Titan death trap. I’m disabled use a wheelchair but looking at this one or any spiral cutter block as my hands are rubbish and the least amount of setting up the better. If I got one from yourselves in future is there any help I can get to get into my shed / workshop it’s 16ft x 10ft but would need a wheel kit for it. It’s getting it into shed is problem for me. But thanks again very helpful video cheers Steve 👨🏼🦽

Many thanks gor this video, i learned a lot. Do you know the wrench size ? 8mm is to large. With caliper i measured 7.5mm. Is that correct ? Or is it in inch ? Wrench for the blade holder bolts

Thank you for a great video! I have an at260spt and have made the mistake of turning the adjustment handle for the infeed table without unlocking the table lock first so now the infeed table isn’t parallel to the outfeed table. Do you know how I can fix it?

Hi - my problem is that even if I lower the out feed table to the lowest level, it still does not grab the wood (I.e. its too high and I can’t see anyway of adjusting it lower). I tried to solve this with the levelling bolts on the other side, but even with both of those disengaged, the blades don’t grab the wood. Is there an easy solution I’m missing?

Dear Mr Barry Have you been able to check the drive roller height, as it would appear that they are too high and not pulling the timber through.The roller height are adjustable as they are sprung loaded. Too bad the 310 model doesn’t have a way to adjust the backside of the table. It’s basically a £3000 thicknesses because it’s impossible to achieve and maintain planer alignment.
@axminster

Hi there, you should only have to adjust the table when you first get it, and it's also recommended after each time of usage/starting a new project, to ensure the settings remain the same, as in some cases you'll need to move the table whilst cutting to hit all the areas, then reset it again. If you need further help, our technical team are on hand to answer questions www.axminstertools.com/contact
