Forgot to mention one thing, don't forget to give the Oscillators some volume (the knob to the left of the on/off switch) as if they are set to zero, they won't create any sound!

Quick tip. If you go into the Arturia software for changing settings on the keystep and setup the aftertouch to control modulation, you can then patch our from the mod output and use aftertouch for a variety of things such as controlling filter cutoff, pitch cv or whatever.

Interesting note about Behringer MIDI and the Keystep Pro--The Keystep could not see my Deepmind 6 when connected through one of the 4 MIDI outs of my MIDI Thru box NOR as connected to the MIDI out of my RefaceCS. Only when I connected one of the Keystep MIDI outs directly to the Deepmind did the Keystep see it.

@@paulallenMacca No I totally get you now! Cp88 googling it up... I think you might be in luck, it seems to have audio in capabilities... Google yamaha cp 88 manual and go to page 19 which shows you the rear outputs. Now the Xlr outputs seem to be made to for sending sound from the cp88 to a mixer, so that might not be what you are after. If it was me I'd run from the audio out on the poly d (I'm assuming it's 1/4 inch audio cable, that's what the model d has) into box #10 (audio in on the cp88) which will feed in the audio from the poly d into your poly d. Check out the midi options in the manual for some cool options for controlling the poly d from your cp88 as well. You will need to run a MIDI cable from your cp88 midi out to the poly d midi in to do so.

Yeah as the Model D is based upon the old miniMoog, it didn't add in a lot of CV adjustments via MIDI. You should be able to send notes, and simple instructions like pitch bend, but it's not possible to adjust a lot of the knobs on the model D directly from abelton, or any DAW/MIDI controller. Some people on reddit suggested it may be possible with MIDI to CV cables(haven't heard or played with them myself) but offer no/little details on how to accomplish this. Good Luck!

Now we live end of July 2023 and I have this Behringer Neutron Analog Synthesizer.....and I have noticed that everyone seems to use exactly that Arturia's keystep MIDI keyboard controller that also You seem to have over there.Do you know any specific reason that why everyone's using exactly that MIDI -controller???and after 3-4years when almost all videos here on KZitem has Been made about Neutron and that keystep connected to it,do you still recommend me to get that same controller after so many years or IS there better one's that You would choose now from #Arturia to control your Behringer Neutron or that one what you got there????
@NickCapron

Yeah I think the keystep is like the Honda civic of midi keyboard controllers. It's priced reasonably and will handle the majority of people's needs. I don't have a neutron, but one of the cool things about the keystep is it has CV outs, which may work nicely with the neutron, thus why you are seeing them paired up so much, but that is just an assumption on my part.

Hey Gino, First thing I would do is ensure the keystep is working correctly, if you have other MIDI hardware, can you connect to it and play as expected? If so then you at least have narrowed down the problem to the Pro 1 Then on the Pro 1 (I don't have one but I'm assuming it is similar to the Model D), ensure they are both on the same MIDI channel, Set the pro 1 to MIDI CH1, do the same for the Keystep. Still no luck? Ensure on the pro 1, that that oscillators have volume, and your amp envelope allows sound, ensure your attack is near 0, sustain is maxed, if you still can't make a sound on the Pro 1, at that point I would see if I could get MIDI to it via another device other then the keystep to ensure the MIDI connection on the Pro 1 isn't damaged Hope that helps and goodluck!

Can you help me dude? I've followed everything You've said but not working. The only sound I can get out of the model d with my keystep 37 is when I flip the a-440 switch to on and it seems to be a test tone which I cannot affect the sound of in any way with either the model d knobs or the keystep keys. Is something on my model d broken?
@NickCapron
2 жыл бұрын
Hey Ryan, couple of things you can troubleshoot... 1) if you have another midi controller try it to ensure that the keystep is working 2) Double check the MIDI channel the D is set to on the back, it's easy for those little switches on the back to get bumped and changed to another ch 3) Your audio set-up is good if you can hear the tone, so either the D isn't receiving MIDI data via the ch your keystep is set to, or the settings on the D are not making noise, or worse case, your Behringer is defective

@@ThatGuyDownInThe that's a good, at least the model D is turning on and your audio hookup is correct. The next thing I would try is for the main oscillator, ensure it's range is set to 8' or 16' the volume next to it is cranked to max, and that the it's red switch is on For the loudness section, make the attack minimal and the decay/sustain maxed out. Check the MIDI channel switch on the back and make sure your keystep is sending MIDI notes on the same channel. That may help, or at least point us towards an issue with model D MIDI malfunction, or an config issue with the keystep Oh and play around with the filter settings too, you might have the filter applied in a way that is cutting out the sound
