Nice someone finally makes a video on this pointing this out. The proportion setting should really be the default setting if you can't even draw a proportional circle without it :p I wonder how many people are unaware of this. Over time, you learn to compensate for it, but it should not be this way. The coin trick is great for validation, otherwise you can not really point out why its off. Very smart.

Thanks Harry, feel free to share it with others too, the more people who know about it the better!

Wow! I never knew this! I am learning zBrush and I'm not an artist (can't draw) nor a sculptor (yet!), and I never considered this - *ultra* valuable information here, and I *love* that your videos are only a couple of minutes long (well, the ones I'm looking at so far!). Thank you so much!

@@SeanForsythTutorials Thank you Sean that's so kind of you, I'm actually playing with zBrush today, and am playing with sculpting a head (total play, just to get used to things) - one of the questions I'm asking myself is what's the best/quickest way to select brushes? I know the shortcut is B and I know you type the letters of the brush and can drill right down to the brush with just letters, but even that seems too slow to me. Do you advise putting your most favourite brushes down at the bottom of the UI? (I believe that kind of customisation can be done in zBrush). Happy New Year to you by the way! And thank you once again :)

I just plugged in my OLLLLLD wacom bamboo tablet. Any idea on how I can invert the controls? I needed the pressure sensitivity but all the default brush paintings is inverted. When I draw, its as if I'm holding alt. I need to press and hold the pen button to un-alt and sculpt normally. Mouse behaves normally, but as soon as I move to tablet, its inverted. Its driving me nuts. I can't find the setting to undo this in tablet preferences.

Strange one. Sounds like you might have Alt mapped to a button on the tablet and that button is broken (i.e constantly on). Have you checked your tablet button mappings? Maybe disable all of them just to be sure it's not them interfering?

Correct me if I'm wrong but this is only a issue for people with dual monitors, no so much a single monitor users problem?

The general advice here is for dual monitors, but even for single monitor users,, if you don't turn on Force Proportions, your strokes on screen won't reflect what you are doing on your tablet.

most wacom non display tablet have a ratio at around 16:10 and most monitor is at 16:9 ratio.. so it's pretty significant difference if you use all your tablet space

also tablet have either 2540 or 5080 lpi.. and you have to adjust your working space to that in your working space for example, i used to have intuos pro s with working space at 6.3x3.9 inch with 5080 resolution per inch.. so in my 1080p monitor i'll get 16.67 resolution per 1 pixel movement of my screen it gave me weird feeling while drawing until i adjusted it to 16 tablet res/ 1 screen pixel but my coworker doesn't seem to notice the difference.. so it's not really important if you don't notice it.. even some people won't even notice the messed up aspect ratio from the default tablet setting 🤷♂️
