Would you mind sharing your camera setup details? I would like to find a camera setup that allows live video feed to a laptop/external monitor while also being able to capture high resolution stills.

My current setup uses a Nikon Z6 going into a fairly old (~10 years) Acer Monitor via HDMI. I was going to make a detailed video on how I mount the camera to the microscope because I had to combine a couple products to make the system work (I couldn't find a microscope adapter for the Nikon Z-mount). But one of the products was discontinued! I have to do another search to see if there are any new adapters specifically designed for the Nikon Z (mirrorless/wide mount) cameras. I've been disappointed by "affordable" dedicated microscope cameras. While they can take fairly good still images, watching live video on a monitor- which would be most fun for your family seeing protozoa scoot across the screen- is made challenging by low frame rates when you start using higher objectives. A mirrorless camera or DSLR (which are being phased out) are great as you can set a fast enough frame rate to always have smooth motion. I hope this helps. Thank you so much for writing!!

Thanks. I got a Zeiss standard polarizing scope with the old camera setup. I was looking for a camera I could try to use with it.

Does the phototube adjust on your Amscope T340B? I just got one and I can't get my camera parfocal with the eyepieces. The manual says the top metallic part of the phototube should rotate to adjust this, but mine won't budge. Have you run into this issue?

Yes. The silver rube at top of the camera tube should turn freely within the white-ish main part of the tube. As it doesn’t move, it might be stuck at the bottom of travel. Try turning it counterclockwise (from the perspective of looking down on the tube. I don’t think it can get stuck at the top, but unfortunately I’m away from my scope for a couple days or old tryi it out for you.

@@zoominmicroscopy Thanks, I tried this with as much force as I could muster and it wouldn't budge. I'll contact amscope about getting a new part, I think mine is defective.

I’m sorry to hear that. If you wouldn’t mind please let me know what amscope says when you speak with them
