@SWIFTzTrigger
9 жыл бұрын
That doesn't make any sense. The norm or "average" would shift accordingly if behaviour radically changed and then what would be considered average now would be different and radical at that point. Average is average for a reason, its comfortable enough. Also we are social animals and being average is actually an advantage.
@thinkyourreality1087
9 жыл бұрын
SWIFTzTrigger I think he's talking with the assumption that most people won't set themselves apart. Most people are average and choose consciously or otherwise to remain that way. He's talking to people who truly don't want to be average and are willing to put in the work not to be so, which is a very small percentage of people. It may not seem like it, but it is. So if that small percentage of people make a change, even a radical one, then norms would still be norms.

You are so different from many "self-help" people. You tell it like it is. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Lord knows I'm struggling with trying to succeed in my life. I am hanging on a string trying to finish college at this point and I don't know what the hell I am gonna do after I graduate. I am what you call an older college student bc I took a break then returned..although I am still in my 20s...just late 20s. I just want to make a lot of money, be comfortable, travel and do what I love (which is ironically, something I am not completely sure about yet). Freedom is something I have not tasted since I was younger due to financial issues and I crave it sooooo badly! Just went through a split and now moving back to my home I could friggin cry at this point but I'm holding on.

Im currently sitting in a shed on a military base listening to and watching this video. Such valuable information. Even though my time often gets wasted by others and myself included, I am not satisfied with being an average joe in life as many in the military tend to be. I've bounced around a lot in life and I wish I had come across you earlier as I think it would have helped me cut the learning curve dramatically, but perhaps I needed to come to this point at this time. 1. What resonated most with you form this video? : The fact that we should challenge all our beliefs. The castle of our beliefs being attacked by friends or enemies - is a pretty cool concept. 2. What is an action point that you can take from this video? : When I read books and get insight, I will write down 1 or 2 actions, things to do differently, based on what I learned. 3. What is a conviction that you need to challenge? : The unfairness concept you mentioned. I should stop expecting fairness from the world and acknowledge my hypocrisy in that I only see unfairness in relationship to me or my immediate beliefs/thoughts.

I have 2 levels of degree in philosophy - I specialized in the ancient Greeks and the Germans of the 19th century including Nietzsche. N. was often misunderstood. He was a better writer than most of his peers. Because I am also a writer but loved reading good fiction, I liked his stuff better. "like two years", that's not very long in the grand scheme of things. Also, what happens if amazon ever goes bust? Is that all the books on their database gone and no longer can access? A book will ensure you will always 100% be able to access its knowledge. It is a pain to keep however, and I am not denying that, but it's a long term investment which will benefit you in the long run :)

I like what you said about, "sometimes truth comes from the worst sources." That's very similar to my, "you can learn ANYTHING from ANYONE or even ANYTHING if you're willing to learn it, even from your enemies you can learn things." The best part about learning things from your enemies is it gives you insight about them, and it is always good to KNOW YOUR ENEMY! An example of this is ISIS, they are disgustingly horrible human beings, but something I took from them is, when they want something they will get it done! They have a passion and drive to rid the earth of infidels and anyone who is not about what they are about. That has showed me that I need to step up my drive and passion for things that are good! I need to work much harder on getting to the point where I can stop BULLIES like them! I like to simplify life, because we tend to complicate it too much. ISIS is the ultimate from of bullying because they are willing to kill, that is the ultimate form of hate. They have major issues in their selves and they are letting out the issues they have within themselves and pushing it onto others. Just like myself and anyone else on this planet, if we NEVER deal with many deep ROOTED issues, they will manifest themselves physically or emotionally or both! Until those issues are dealt with, we could never move forward. LOVE conquers all, but not just any love, God's love because he is TRUE love, PERFECT love! Remember that! We are all sinful and will always have wicked hearts! I am one of those with a really wicked heart! None is exempt! Knowledge is Power!

I would like to say that Germans are great philosophers there is a book called "siddaharta" by Hermen Hess and in this book which you probably have read, siddaharta has experienced a lot of things (good and bad) and he comes to the end to realize that life is both good and bad (sansara and nirvana) without one the other one won't exist. I hop you read this book and share it with us as you do with otger books.

Tai, given that social media is so huge ...why not create something to Connect people who are for e.g. New in Town and looking to meet up with some new friends who are willing to hang out..For e.g. connecting people with their interests..If they are into Nightclubs, dancing, Karoke...Anything...and obviously make it so that it's safe, and people for e.g. would be able to search ahead a time and get to know this person. .So you're already building a connection with this person and then when you go to a destination, you are already familiar with each other...You can also have even segments for people...and the type of people they feel like they would connect with best... Anyways just throwing an idea out there, because you're saying a lot of people are complaining about the same thing..

***** great video man. I've been watching a lot of your vids back to back as i'm really into self-development. i thought it was interesting when you were talking about the vegan lifestyle and testing your convictions about that when it's something that a person goes into only after finding out that violence to animals isn't necessary. and this can be known with certainty. also, interesting thoughts about the omnivores dilemma you brought up where you mentioned maybe vegans feel superior to plants. i don't feel that way personally, and it quite simply doesn't measure up logically or scientifically. humans have to eat some kind of food to survive. and it's known scientifically that we don't need animals to survive. That we can obtain all nutrients without animal products and that plants are not sentient begins. Very important here that plants are not sentient. they don't have a central nervous system and they also are in a whole different kingdom so they must operate differently. i'm new to your channel and i see you as an intelligent man. my prediction is that you will eventually embark on the vegan lifestyle as it's logical in all aspects of self-development and benefits are immeasurable on a global scale: Environment, Health, aids human and animal suffering. Much research has been done about it. you can easily find research backed by periodic and scientific reviews. It was actually my passion to be a better person, separate from the masses, and set myself apart from the crowd that led me to the vegan lifestyle. I see it as only an inevitable move for yourself if you wish to fully develop and if your goal is to become the best version of yourself. thanks for your videos and wisdom. you're an inspiration to enhance my intellectual side :)

Hej Tai, at first I was quite against the ideas of Niezsche, I`ve heard just negative stuff. In the beginning of the video it got challenging already, specially the part of challenging the believe that we ow our time to our family because we have 50% of their DNA in us. That is when it gets interesting, whenever I feel challenged by a new idea I need to keep listening and then is like a new coin in a video game or an accomplished achievement. I feel kind of being in front of you in a casual conversation, the ideas you share and the casual way makes it much easier to follow you. Thanks for challenging my believe system over and over again(with your other videos).

You know what's the best way to set yourself apart? Get highest education possible and therefore skills that would make you highly qualified expert. My brother is 40 and already in pension, enjoying his own millions. Do you know how he got there? He got his phd in computer science and worked for google for about 12 years. Therefore, trivial self helf books can be entertaining to read and perhaps somewhat useful, but people you dp need to get structured and formal knowledge in some field, become trained expert in order to be appreciated. And ritch. I very well know that education is not available to everyone but you need to try your best in order to get a scholarship, try moving to a country with free education etc.

First of all, thank you Tai! Another great thing I liked from this video, was what you had said with regards to the greatest thinkers in the world. We shouldn't discard any information without fully taking it in and fully pondering on it. I would like to add onto that and say, "these people who are thinkers are "professionals" in their fields, WHY WOULDN'T YOU LISTEN TO THEM! We are inferior to them because we did not put in nearly as much time as they have into pondering on things. You can learn much from a professional in ANY field in life. They are superior in their field for a reason. Arrogance, ignorance, and stubbornness only show JUST HOW FOOLISH PEOPLE ARE! I am included in this, just as anyone else is. We are all fools in one or more areas or aspects of our lives, none is exempt, because we are SINFUL humans, none is perfect. We all fail in something! This was one of my favorite videos of yours, many, many great topics and ideas.

1. The conviction aspect resonated with me most. Never really thought about it like that, but it's the understanding that resonates. Conviction IS the enemy of truth. 2. Going to work on being flexible. Solid advice I'm walking away is to be stubborn with the end goal, NOT the path. 3. A conviction that I need to challenge is religion. I'm the son of a Lutheran Pastor and am a firm believer in a higher entity, and that higher entity to me is Jesus Christ. I've listened to atheists and other religious practitioners and they ALL make valid points. Thus being said, don't want to confuse FAITH with CONVICTION.

Tai, you say that you read 1 book a day. And it seems that you are marked by some of the specific sentences/sayings in these books. So, it makes me wonder wether you speed read or "normal" read a book? If you speed read through, how is it so [how do you do to] be so attentionate in your readings to grab and analyze every sentence in the book?

richsocaplaya he was even talking I don't know in this video may be another one about how it is better to learn a little bit and be able to make use of it versus learn a whole bunch and not remember it all

caesar mendoza By reading too quickly, you mostly localize ideas that you already have in your head. It will be new sentences, but not new ideas, to your brain. Hence why you can't speed read a law case, a medical lecture, or mathematical proofs. Nothing new is being learned, just masturbation of one's ego. The funny part is that this guy makes money off pimping success inspired people.

I read this book a while back- a great read. Hey, Tai, just curious, what are your thoughts on marijuana? Should one use it every so often or do you think it is detrimental?

he says in one of his videos that he has tried it, but it made him feel stupid so he doesn't do it at all. also, he doesn't take a hard stance for or against it in any of the content i've seen/read by him, but he clearly implies his dissaproval throughout with indicating language such as "read the obvious signs" and references to articles that discuss studies proving that even occasional marijuana use causes abnormalities in brain areas that control motivation and decision making. i would wage heavily that he thinks even occasional marijuana use is a mistake and definitely a detriment to long-term success.

Life is too short to be who you want. If there is a certain fashion or style you want to capture and express via wearing it on your body, THEN DO IT. That's how you set yourself apart. Don't be afraid to express yourself the way you want to and don't let anyone say you can't express yourself. Of course, exceptions are always there... being in the workplace, and such, but if you want to have blue hair, adapt to Victorian Goth and Mori style fashion, and learn to do aerobatics, then DO IT. (JUST DO IT).

I should challenge my faith, seems like everyone I know is a catholic like me just because that's the way they were raised, yet when I ask my mother or parish priest on why I should be a catholic or follow this religion they look down on me as if I've done something wrong. The world doesn't like people that question the majority I guess

Don't give up your Catholic faith bro, it truly does contain the fullness of truth in it. Like the other gentleman said in his comment prior to mine, READ! Study and prayer go hand in hand. God will definitely enlighten your mind with His wisdom guiding you to what you desire, namely Truth! Take care and God bless...

This is probably where I may be different, I'm all about putting the puzzle pieces together and making distant reasonable connections, making sense of the data rather than just trying to memorize and use it. Meditation is an example, if you do it right, of your taking a step back to see the whole picture and thus be better able to reconfigure information into a meaningful and, most importantly, applicable truth for your life.

Tai, very clever!, I've seen a lot of your videos and now subscribed, the only minuscule thing that I disagree with this particular video is when you talk about vegetarians vs people that eat meat, when you eat vegetables you don't necessarily have to kill the hole plant, you don't have to kill the hole tree to eat an apple, an orange or a tomato, is not the same when you eat meat, that's all, allrighty then, keep it clear, logical and eat you vegetables. Cheers!

Tai, since I will be in Hollywood in August would I be able to visit you before I got back to England. I feel like since I am there it's a good if not one of the best opportunities I'll have to find a good mentor who is ahead of me and where I aspire to be in 10 years!

Blown my mind again Tai, thanks for sharing. I'm super guilty of keeping my accomplishments quiet and to myself in social scenarios. Definitely isn't out of arrogance but about drawing attention to myself. (I'm from England, might be related to that? haha) I'll take on what you said and find the middle ground! Thanks again!
